Where on the web can I find a comprehensive London gig/club listings guide?

Trying to think of something to do around my b'day but honestly, you'd think such a thing would exist right? I know you've got Time Out and stuff, but it only tells you what's coming up in the following week and I want to know what's happening around the 7/8 October. Other sites aren't much more helpful. Why can't all the nights be listed in one searchable database? Anyone know a good site?

For Time Out on those dates, use these URLs and the category filters on the left:

'Beyond the Clouds' have Anthony 'Shake' Shakir, Daniel Bell & Ben UFO on at Corsica Studios on the 8th. You won't find a better night in London on all year in my opinion.

If htat doesn't appeal, you could also try looking on RA:

the last.fm listings may fill a few blanks too: http://www.last.fm/events/+place/United+Kingdom/London?startdate=2011-10-07&showAll=1

You could try Songkick for gigs. Can't vouch for its effectiveness as I've never really had a need for it.

we're putting on Public Enemy at the forum on Thursday, will be GOOD.

www.londonears.net is decent. or yes, Songkick or last.fm.

(suddenly under the realisation that dragging friends out from under their suburban rocks to go out clubbing is going to be harder than squeezing mince from a horse's tearduct).

While we're on this topic. Can anyone point me to good general guides to London. I'm moving there in 8 days and I realized I don't know shit about the city.

You mean hard copy guides? Arm yourself with the Time Out and/or Rough Guides. The Time Out one is stronger on culture, nightlife, shops, restaurants etc, whereas the Rough Guide is better on history, sightseeing and stuff.

Maybe a London FAP to welcome EDB? Thoughts?
