Has anyone else heard this record? I've been playing this record nearly constantly for the last week after accidentally stumbling upon one track on Spotify. There's something a bit 'Fisher Price - My First Krautrock Album' about the whole thing but that's also to imply it's kind of difficult to dislike.
They are incredibly open about their influences - there are tracks called 'Trans-Pennine Express' and, even more brazenly, 'Here Come The Warm Digits' but at the same time they're incredibly good at what they do - loads of gorgeous synth melodies running through the whole thing. So yeah there are the usual influences in there - Kraftwerk, Neu!, MBV guitar noise, but they also remind me of Holy Fuck and the first Lindstrom & Prins Thomas album and the Emeralds and, weirdly, Robygiv. Other than that I know nothing about them - presuming they're from the north of England somwhere.

Trans-Pennine ExpressA Warm Front Coming In From The North
There's some other live stuff on Youtube but otherwise very little to actually link. The whole album is on Spotify though.

Reminds me a bit of a more guitar-heavy version of Alpinestars, who were doing krautrocky electro about 10yrs ago. There 1st album is worth a listen: http://open.spotify.com/album/1crUZO9ybBZXzdommmIpy3

Hah yeah I remember the Alpinestars, I think I saw them at Glastonbury once. They were also very Fisher Price My First Krautrock Album iirc.

Alpinestars sounded pretty decent on re-listening, but are badly let down by some very weedy vocals.
I liked that Warm Digits album, also had shades of Plone and Ulrich Schnauss IMO.

Received CD copy of this when I nipped home for lunch & to do some physio just now, and listened to the first 2 and a bit tracks as I drove back to work. You can tell EXACTLY what it sounds like from the cover artwork and the tracklisting. Great fun. Good call, Matt.
