Do I just need to spend tomorrow listening to everything Buck ever did? I remember listening to Cashville back in the day and thinking it was aiight but G-Unit hype had p much burnt me out by then and I just never really returned.

10. Mobb Deep - Put 'Em In Their Place

i've been the lone dissenter on this topic in many other threads before but "Get Buck" has never really worked for me, it's pretty much the only one of these tracks where the drums don't feel big enough to support the horns so it's all awkward and top-heavy

You need 'Back On My Buck Shit Vol. 2' and 'Buck The World,' a couple personal classics of mine. xxp

Gred The Flopson (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Monday, 12 September 2011 22:29 (fourteen years ago)

i will get straight on that, cheers spottie

Ravaging Rick Rude (a hoy hoy), Monday, 12 September 2011 22:30 (fourteen years ago)

I love that Get Buck is tuba heavy, drums are alright, maybe the snare is kinda weak but it never bothered me.

Gred The Flopson (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Monday, 12 September 2011 22:31 (fourteen years ago)

i didn't realize anyone remembered Young CRYING IN THE MIDDLE OF A PHONE CALL WITH 50 Buck fondly outside of the Breihaniverse

I like the first three Game albums tbh

Ive actually become a big-ass Buck stan, especially since Back On My Buck Shit 2. Didnt fully love his debut, but Buck The World has always been great to me and he's been killing the mix-tape circuit of recent.

his debut is basically considered the best non-50 G-Unit record no?

D-40, Tuesday, 13 September 2011 00:55 (fourteen years ago)

over The Documentary and Beg For Mercy? no way

some dude, Tuesday, 13 September 2011 00:57 (fourteen years ago)

its definitely better than the documentary imo

D-40, Tuesday, 13 September 2011 00:59 (fourteen years ago)

the absence of hard drums is what i like about 'get buck' -- its part of why it works, feels more like a genuine brass band that way -- i cant imagine that song w/ heavy drums

D-40, Tuesday, 13 September 2011 00:59 (fourteen years ago)

well don't talk about what's "considered" the best if you're just stating your opinion as if it's popular consensus

some dude, Tuesday, 13 September 2011 01:01 (fourteen years ago)

i'm not?? ive heard lots of ppl say that

D-40, Tuesday, 13 September 2011 01:03 (fourteen years ago)

tbh i thought 'straight outta cashville >>>> other g-unit' was the consensus

D-40, Tuesday, 13 September 2011 01:05 (fourteen years ago)

surprised to hear differently

D-40, Tuesday, 13 September 2011 01:05 (fourteen years ago)

well you do run in southern rap fan circles -- if you hung w/ east coast punchline nerds you'd probably think The Hunger For More is the favorite. but i think in a more general sense the first Game or Beg For Mercy probably gets the most props.

some dude, Tuesday, 13 September 2011 01:09 (fourteen years ago)

i guess when i take a big picture view i could see the Game record being bigger just because the singles off that were sooo huge even compared to Buck's bigger ones (at least i remember them being more omnipresent)

D-40, Tuesday, 13 September 2011 01:10 (fourteen years ago)

well yeah it was way bigger in every respect

some dude, Tuesday, 13 September 2011 01:11 (fourteen years ago)

20. Slim Thug - Like A Boss
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_J1FSyFTWTU

Number None, Tuesday, 13 September 2011 01:13 (fourteen years ago)

i mean Buck barely squeaked into daytime radio rotation with a Lil Jon track in 2004 (xpost)

some dude, Tuesday, 13 September 2011 01:13 (fourteen years ago)

to be clear i was deferring to a rap head consensus about the better record, not sales figures

D-40, Tuesday, 13 September 2011 01:17 (fourteen years ago)

about "the singles off that were sooo huge even compared to Buck's bigger ones (at least i remember them being more omnipresent)"?

some dude, Tuesday, 13 September 2011 01:23 (fourteen years ago)

yah im saying -- that kind of social energy can translate into critical energy & certainly did for those singles -- i dont think the documentary is nearly as good a record as those two singles, and game is nowhere near as good a rapper as Buck, so maybe the hugeness of those tracks made up for shortcomings in that consensus
