Against my better judgement I'm actually kind of... anticipating... the new Drake album. I mean, look at the cover:
http://www.ddotomen.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Drake-Take-Care.jpg
also, the tracklist look kind of intersting:
1. Shot For Me (produced by 40)2. Headlines (produced by Boi-1da & 40)3. The Ride featuring The Weeknd (produced by 40)4. Marvin's Room (produced by 40)5. Club Paradise (produced by 40)6. Her Regrets (Interlude) featuring The Weeknd (produced by The-Dream & 40)7. Her Regrets featuring The Weeknd (produced by The-Dream & 40)8. All Kinds featuring Justin Timberlake (produced by Timbaland)9. The Real Her featuring Lil' Wayne (produced by Streetrunner)10. Good Ones(produced by Lex Luger)11. Sing For Me (Interlude)(produced by Jamie XX)12. Free Spirit featuring Rick Ross(produced by 40)13. Lord Knows (produced by Just Blaze)14. Doing It Wrong featuring Stevie Wonder (produced by 40 & Quincy Jones)15. Never Enough featuring The Weeknd (produced by 40)16. To My City (produced by 9th Wonder)17. Take Care featuring Nas, J.Cole, Eightball & MJG (produced by Hit-Boy & Chase N. Cashe)18. Yours Sincerely featuring Stevie Wonder (produced by 40 & Stevie Wonder)
plus I liked a coupe of tracks on his first album.

eh i think headlines is fine for what it is. at least he doesnt have any major clunkers on it

i def like the overall vibe of it more than "Over" which might be my least favorite hip hop hit of the past few years
Is Whiney posting the dead Angelfire img on purpose now for some sort of "hilarious" zing?
― jon /via/ chi 2.0, Sunday, 25 September 2011 02:02 (fourteen years ago)
"headlines" doesn't have clunkers like a lot of his songs but it has a total absence of anything remotely good, which most of his songs at least have a little hint of
― some dude, Sunday, 25 September 2011 02:08 (fourteen years ago)

yeah but two of the Weeknd songs are produced by The-Dream...... so i'm very conflicted.
― Tyler the Creator Knows White People (The Brainwasher), Sunday, 25 September 2011 02:13 (fourteen years ago)
I'd consider that more two and a half, really. But I think the Drake-guesting Weeknd track was the only one I went back to on the last mix, so maybe they won't be awful? But, tbh, at this point I can't see myself listening to this whole thing until I get bored and its on Spotify.

"Would I have you already?" he asks. "Are you sleeping with me?"
Time to go!
It's a hypothetical question (I think), but Drake, being Drake, still wants an answer: "We had wine and dinner by the pool, I brought you inside, I brought the projector down; are you or are you not sleeping with me?"

Can I just volunteer that life becomes much easier and more enjoyable when you realize it isn't really worth the time to hate Drake? He's not Chris Brown; there's no moral imperative to despise his music.
I've come to regard him as the Family Guy at this point: He's going to irk me sometimes, he's going to amuse me at others, but since he's everywhere, all the time, I might as well just get used to him.

comparing him to people who have big strikes against them as people is apples and oranges, drake's music is all i need to loathe him. i mean ja rule wasn't half as ubiquitous on rap radio as him for half as long and remember how people whined about him being overexposed, i don't know why the world is still putting up with this worthless idiot.

there were 5 years between "Holla Holla" and "Wonderful" but he was only really ubiquitous in the 2 years between "Put It On Me" and "Mesmerize." Ja had 13 top ten R&B hits, Drake has 24 so far.

Drake declares 'disgust' at Rolling Stone bumping him for Philip Seymour Hoffman
This morning, he took to Twitter to express his “disgust” that Rolling Stone had knocked him off the cover for Philip Seymour Hoffman. “I’m disgusted with that,” he wrote in two Tweets that he has since removed (you can see them on New York Daily News’ site). “Disgusted?” Really? Maybe “disappointed” would have been a more understandable and less regrettable word choice.
Drake tweeted: “I never commented on Yeezus for my interview portion of Rolling Stone. They also took my cover from me last minute and ran the issue.”
Then followed with this Tweet: “I’m disgusted with that. RIP to Philip Seymour Hoffman. All respect due. But the press is evil.”
Next came the usual declaration…and one that will be recanted next time he needs the press for something. “I’m done doing interviews for magazines. I just want to give my music to the people. That’s the only way me message gets across accurately.” He’s kept up that Tweet.

Sorry I just unabashedly love it. I don't think I've heard any other album, rap or otherwise, so thoroughally explore the cruel reality that, no matter how much you might delude yourself, you can't bookmark a relationship and return to it when it the timing is more convenient. You either ride it out or give it up for good. Such a simple, Kundera-esque premise, and he does so much with it. Four years later it still guts me.
