Talking Heads' Remain In Light cover was meant to be the reverse and the reverse the cover.
i always see it the 'wrong' way round since i found out, as this is just as good for a cover i think:

Tom D's links are broken for me, anyone else?

What is NV's from? I remember it being posted before, but I forget the source.

Always preferred this to the pencil in the ear, despite the censorship.

xp yeah you can't beat it can you? young fired up, hungry, skint band in charity shop clothes, sat about waiting for fame on the tube. the whole mood of that pre-britpop era is sotally summed up for me by that painting.

piscesx, Thursday, 29 September 2011 20:54 (fourteen years ago)

my copy of Diamond Dogs doesn't contain that fold-out image.

I hate when they fuck with album art like this on different pressings

Much like the Noteworthy Album Covers thread, it would be cool if you posted the band/album cover with the artwork so people know what they're looking at...

My go-to for this would be ZZ Top's "Tres Hombres":

yeah good point. my last one was blur.

how comes the images don't show up some times on threads these days? that last Kraftwerk one was there yesterday, now it isn't.

hard to beat the diamond dogs one. iirc it was not used in particular countries because of the dog's genitalia?

I can't find it online, but the booklet of Andrew WK's The Wolf has this great photo of him sitting at the keyboards and giving a big grinning thumbs-up to the camera, so much more appealing than the somber "Mature Album" suggested by the cover. I flipped it around in the jewel case and in my mind the thumbs-up one is the cover.

Doctor Casino, Friday, 6 January 2012 16:31 (thirteen years ago)

the flip cover of mark eitzel's west (photograph of some ships taken by mark, which is what he submitted for the artwork) is hundreds of times better than the cover WB made him use, which is of his face. I flipped that around in the case years ago and it's still the cover in my mind.

Neil Young "On the Beach" inside of the sleeve (not inner sleeve) floral pattern that matches underside of the umbrella on the front cover.

sneaker_bomba, Friday, 20 January 2012 18:55 (thirteen years ago)

Not sure this qualifies, but with classic Ohio Players, the ostensible front cover is only half of the picture.

Plato’s The Cave In Claymation (Sanpaku), Friday, 20 January 2012 20:08 (thirteen years ago)

that Pylon one is the winner of this thread so far; an amazing example of a lousy cover and an amazing inner!
