anyway, ms e badu, duh

Ford Cumlord (The Reverend), Saturday, 1 October 2011 02:28 (fourteen years ago)

I don't. I try to keep a top 5 in my head that's pretty constant but I don't have a "this is my favorite above all others" artist like I did when I was in high school when it was a very important q for me

pathos of the unwarranted encore (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Saturday, 1 October 2011 04:43 (fourteen years ago)

brotherlovesdub has it right: new owdah! best image, best career, best mix of pop and avant, best cover art, best mix of singles and albums, best label, best place in history and pop culture, best offshoots (the first electronic album is god), best ineptness (those lyrics, that live show, that fucking world cup tune, sometimes their production, the fact that they seemingly don't give a fuck about their fans)... new order is likable and respectable and innovative and endlessly listenable.

if bernard sumner wanted his asshole bleached, and i was the only one around that could do it, i would. i figure i owe him.

ugh, not a fan of having to follow that last post, but anyway -- the post by underrated sums up my sentiments exactly. when I saw the thread title, I immediately starting thinking of a short list in my head, then just had to stop and laugh when I got to like 10, knowing full well there was no hope of ever paring it down. but yeah, this is not to say that there were long ago times in my life where I walked around with the answer to this question held with absolute certainty..

Stormy Davis, Saturday, 1 October 2011 05:02 (fourteen years ago)

what about hooky xp

mookieproof, Saturday, 1 October 2011 05:03 (fourteen years ago)

i had a series of favorites and then i kind of reached a point where it was no longer important to have favorites.

nevertheless i answered this question in the affirmative with my last favorite in mind, which is superchunk. and as they're unlikely to write any crappy world cup songs, i feel pretty safe in claiming them for all time.

i *do* hope they don't write any carolina hurricanes songs, but at least it's hockey.
