i think that for a number of years in my youth i conflated my vague familiarity with these into all being the same song, before realizing they were not two but three different songs

i was reminded about my old idea of starting this thread when i heard the ABC song this morning so i have a hard time arguing with the consensus (also "U Got The Look" is maybe my least favorite song on SOTT)

U Got The Look for me. Sorry, ABC fans. I dig Poison Arrow and The Look of Love and all, but on the whole they never really registered with me; whereas Prince is Prince.

"Closing time, ugly lights, everybody's inspected" is by itself better than the whole Roxette song.

What everyone said upthread about ABC. Prince is a genius but then The Lexicon Of Love is simply one of the best pop albums of the early 80s. Must watch the ABC movie, Mantrap (?) again some time...
