I've heard this a whole pile of times out and it only occured to me now since I've downloaded it that it's a Justin Robertson tune (I went on a JR download spree cos he's playing in my town soon) and I always thought it was some old skool tune. It's fucking perfection. Feel free to discuss the absolute aceness of Justin Robertson. I've also downloaded a set of his from Glastonbury 2000. The Lionrock album is sweet too i might add...

thought he went off the boil after "Fire Up The Shoeshaw", personally. Although bits of that album wot came out last year were alright. Still a wicked DJ tho, and a snappy dresser to "boot"...

hahaha isn't it great, key moment just where that fuckin massive chunkified bass comes in, it's absolutely wicked. Michael pick up the Bugged Out CD with Justin's mix on it, absolutely amazing, all that really hard disco house stuff, with some techno thrown in. It starts off with this amazing vocal just bare over kind of minimal swirling noises, the vocal is like "house music, can no longer be, commercial free" and then it says "in other words, we gotta put up. or shut up" and this fucking wicked squelchy house beat comes in, it's a top mix.

Also Michael download Blister Boy, that's the B-side of Have Mercy, fucking amazing tune also, this wicked "rock this party right" sample all over it.

He's always been middling. That's not to say I don't like his shit. Sleuth in its day was a rocking techno club and Justin always plays a good mixture of old and new stuff, although he tends to have a set selection of classics that he always pulls out:
- Jeff Mills' Kat Moda EP
- Green Velvet's Flash
- Dave Clarke's Red 3
- Plastikman's Spastic

Not that there's anything wrong with any of those, but it gets a bit tedious set after set (especially circa 1998 when he played anywhere and everywhere).

Instinct for Detection was an interesting prog-house departure and Lionrock even performed a few live support sets with your man on lead guitar. City Delirious also had some good tracks but didn't really take the sound much further and it clearly wasn't going to get any bigger than it already had done. Which wasn't very big.

I respect his persistance with the whole Sherlock Holmes thing and he's always enjoyable to hear, whether DJing or producing. Not particularly ground-breaking though.

"Flash" can never get tedious.

Was Tronik House a Justin Robertson alias?

Seek out his album from last year Justin Robertson Presents Revtone.IMO it's a great record, took a while to sink in,but once it did,WOW!I think I like it better than Lionrock. It's very '80's,with a nice mix of clubby tracks, some pop,and some more experimental moments.
