Subthread...Taking Sides: Pat Boones "look I'm a metalhead badass" period vs Garth Brook's "Just call me Garthy Ramone" period.Personally, I'm siding with Garth, because Boones No More Mr. Nice Guy barely worked as camp.

And what if up were down? I mean, there was no possible way a Garth Brroks project would have been a critical success.
I'll take Pat Boone over Garth - because Pat knows he's a wuss.

I really really want to see that, but then I am a historian of post-war politics and their mainstream media "interpretations", so I would

Robin Carmody: [Pat Boone] wrote a book c.1960 EXPLAINING COMMUNISM TO TEENAGERS!!!Yep, he said it was dirty, would make you go blind and grow hair on your hands. But beyond that, he was all for it.
To chaki and john: get a room, you two.

I'd like to take this opportunity to do my part to ensure the legend of Trisha Yearwood's Garth's Breakfast Bowl also lives on:
Ingredients2 tablespoons butter8 large eggsOne 16-ounce bag frozen hash browns or Tater Tots, thawed1 pound pork sausage1 pound baconOne 9-ounce package cheese and roasted garlic tortellini10 ounces sharp Cheddar, grated (about 2 1/2 cups)
Directions1. In a large skillet, melt the butter and scramble the eggs. 2. In a separate large skillet, cook the hash browns according to package directions. 3. In a third skillet, break up the sausage with a wooden spoon and cook until browned. Remove with a slotted spoon and transfer to a bowl. Cook the bacon in the same skillet until crispy, drain on paper towels, tear into pieces and set aside. 4. Cook the tortellini according to the package directions. Layer a large bowl with hash browns, sausage, bacon, tortellini, eggs and cheese, and serve!

Hark!
If there's a better reason to hold on till 2021 than the potential return of Chris Gaines (as teased by Garth to @MelindaNew_man), I haven't heard it. https://t.co/3cqK4eEHky pic.twitter.com/lOWmVRfaO3— Andrew Unterberger (@AUgetoffmygold) October 13, 2020

It appears that Garth Brooks has reached some kind of existential quarantine milestone, because the musician has revealed that he’s reissuing the Gaines album—with bonus material. NEW CHRIS GAINES SONGS. FOR THE WHOLE WORLD TO HEAR. Brooks broke the news on his Facebook series Inside Studio G, where he said the album will be released “in every format you can possibly imagine,” adding, “You’re going to have Chris Gaines stuff nobody’s ever heard before either. I love that project, so I’m excited.”

There's all this mythology around this phenomenon, it was just an elaborate excuse for him making a non-country record.
