I am intrigued by this 80s/early 90s/ French band Niagara. Were they like a French Eurythmics? I notice the singer is now doing sort of down tempo electronica stuff (www.murielmoreno.com). The samples I have heard from the band and her solo work sound pretty intriguing, I like French babes, should I invest in some CDs? Anyone know anything about it?

I have all of their vinyl on German import.

Heh.

That's a joke. It's a line in "Losing My Edge."

I have one single! It's called Flammes de L'Enfer and it's really fun, sleazy pop-rock, with a great hook and horn section.

I remember hearing the singles off "Religion" (1990) and "La Vérité" (1992) when I was a kid, with their videos in constant rotation here. I don't know how it would sound today to me (having accumulated a more critical viewpoint of music as a whole), but I remember liking them a lot, especially "J'ai Vu", "Assez", "Pendant Que Les Champs Brûlent" and "La Vie Est Peut-Être Belle". I don't recall much of a Eurythmics sound to it, but rather hard pop/rock (well, as hard as the French can get) with interesting keyboards. I remember the lyrics as being pretty socially conscious and her having a pretty strong voice. Anyway, I'd check out "Religion", because that's the period of them I remember liking a lot.

BTW, I just checked it out and it's available on SoulSeek.
