I was thinking about pop/rock acts taking influence from latin carnival music but couldn't come up with anything substantial to make a playlist. Was thinking about artists not really known for making this sort of music. Here's a few examples of what I'm thinking about tho I'm sure there's plenty more:
Los Fabulosos Cadillacs - Matadorhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjPA7CXutDw
The Pet Shop Boys had this sort of carnival vibe as a main influence on their album Bilingual. 'Single Bilingual' (which samples 'matador' btw) and 'Se a vida e' (sample of an actual carnival song)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVDQeFX4UOghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEiSeih-gaU

Lots of early Basement Jaxx and artists on their Atlantic Jaxx label - although it's a more house vibe:

That's funny, I can't think of anything - it's such an amazing sound, you'd think more acts would try to use it. Maybe it's too full for most bands to incorporate into rock/pop? But I did once see a samba block do 'Should I Stay Or Should I Go?' once and the percussion worked so well.

I suppose I could offer Airto Moreira 'Celebration Suite', but that actually is a carnival tune so I guess doesn't really count?
