one year passes...

Some pretty ace stuff on the new album.

I agree. "Dropola" is probably my favorite song of the year so far.

Not sold on the whole album yet but, yes, "Dropla" is a fantastic song.

yeah, put me down as a fan of "Dropla". i also really love "Cannons" off the first album, which is on the whole much less adventurous/interesting than the second album, but maybe more successful. it's sort of the ultimate bedroom laptop album about loneliness and nostalgia, and is as open to ridicule as it is to deep identification. i like cannons because the lyrics are a classic adolescent "fuck you, everyone" but rendered hushed and murky.

Saw them live last year instead of seeing new order

basically, this kid's friends aren't as interesting as Jim Wise

and the whole album is the song Jim Wise repeated.

new single is class. never had a doubt about trevor's passion, always earnest songwriting. nice to hear something subtle and chill from the contemporary 'indie' world against the usual overblown hypercompressed racket. looking forward to this album

never really got into Youth Lagoon outside of the astounding first minute of "Mute" but I instantly love the new album. just the gentlest, saddest thing.

same. never liked anything by the guy before but the new album is really nice. his singing has gotten a lot better

new album 'rarely do i dream' is completely stunning, builds on the foundation of 'junkyard' and does it better. 'perfect world'. wow.

On first listen, I love the new one. Never listened to a previous album all the way through, so I am curious now.

nicky lo-fi, Sunday, 9 March 2025 16:44 (four months ago)

both are really good, idk if i like the new one better, but it’s a high bar

surprised myself by how much i like them since i actively disliked the early albums that got him the attention in the first place
