napster: Impossible Searches

Related to "get UR freaK ON" or whateva. I've noticed that hip hop acts are (or were til napster's recent emasculation) extremely findable due to purposeful misspelling. It's as if niggaz wit attitude, geto boys, sisqo, etc. knew that somewhere along the line they were going to need to stand out.

With that in mind, are there and songs/bands that you have been unable to find, due to the generic nature of their titles and the 100-song limit on search results?

I'm thinking here of the La's.

Arab Strap is problematic because you often have to go through all the BS (pun intended) before finding what you want...

Clientele -- Supreme Clientele... A lil diference in style, here... Not exactly what one expects...

Napster recently banned all searches containing the number "4" -- I think it's about time I switch to gnutella.

Had a heck of a time trying to find songs by Ui - Napster seems to just treat it as a vowel combination. Also, ever look for Low by name alone? Impossible.

what gets me is how stupid fratboys takes it upon themselves to ebonicize every possible word on rap mp3s ('tha adventurez of grandmasta flash on tha wheelz of steel', no no no!). a symptom of greater ills in our society, i think.

Due to the limit of 100 results I always found trouble with The Fall, Low and the Make Up. Also, a search for Bright Eyes invariably threw up loads of Art Garfunkel and Bonnie Tyler tracks!

The Fall.

someone i know was recently trying to search for rock band 'calla' on napster and was quite disappointed to find one hundred songs about being a 'big balla shot calla'. the end.

"The the" are hard to find, as Napster (even before any of this blocking BS) ignores the word "the." "The The: 0 Results Found!"

Also, I was looking for an old Take That song, and it was pretty hard to find with all the Can't Take That Away From Mes, etc.

Felt / Denim are quite impossible to find

That reminds me, Fernando: I tried emailing you about Back In Denim but it kept getting sent back to me. Let me know if you're still interested in getting a copy.

Anyway, to bring this message back on topic I have to say that Napster has one of the worst search interfaces ever created. I think that is Napster's central flaw (copyright issues aside). The sad thing is that it probably wouldn't be too difficult to create one that's a little more sophisticated search-wise, but at this point I doubt they will ever get the chance.

Searching for no hit cheltenham wonders Ideal, being surprised when I got 100 responses, then realising they were all some american rapper type bloke...
