MODS DID 10/11 (k3vin k.), Thursday, 10 November 2011 01:54 (thirteen years ago)

yeah this really makes 2010 seem even worse than it was for chart pop

"Blah Blah Blah" is for some reason the one Ke$ha song i even kinda like, so i would almost vote for that but i'm a Pink stan

some dude, Thursday, 10 November 2011 01:55 (thirteen years ago)

Ke$ha by default.

lumber up, limbaugh down (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 10 November 2011 01:56 (thirteen years ago)

some dude, Thursday, 10 November 2011 01:58 (thirteen years ago)

iggy looks so awkward and unhappy when forced to wear a shirt

some dude, Thursday, 10 November 2011 02:03 (thirteen years ago)

"Dynamite", but what a dispiriting list altogether.

Tim F, Thursday, 10 November 2011 02:03 (thirteen years ago)

you throw your hands up in the air sometimes

some dude, Thursday, 10 November 2011 02:04 (thirteen years ago)

dank purple dayz ft. cumulus bambino - milky serial (sk8r remix) (Lamp), Thursday, 10 November 2011 02:05 (thirteen years ago)

Pink, cause I actually liked it at the time, though after a year of it I've definitely heard enough of it for one lifetime.

Who wants to see the great Pavarotti sit on a pie? (jer.fairall), Thursday, 10 November 2011 02:10 (thirteen years ago)

yeah it's definitely a bit overexposed. that and "Airplanes" and "Dynamite" all feel like they were bigger than the actual chart-toppers.

some dude, Thursday, 10 November 2011 02:12 (thirteen years ago)

airplanes!

call all destroyer, Thursday, 10 November 2011 02:16 (thirteen years ago)

these all suck ass!! am i really considering voting for pink??

teledyldonix, Thursday, 10 November 2011 02:38 (thirteen years ago)

definitely airplanes

Taio Cruz - "Dynamite" (peak: #2, follow-up to: "Break Your Heart")

this was the best pop song of 2011, easy vote 4 me -- "fuckin perfect" was pretty good tho

J0rdan S., Thursday, 10 November 2011 02:44 (thirteen years ago)

i remember for like 6 months all i knew of "Dynamite" was the first 30 seconds because i'd hear that hook and be like maybe this will be aight and then it goes into that awkwardly frankensteined "I'M GONNA DAINCE DAINCE DAINCE" second section and i reflexively reach for the dial

some dude, Thursday, 10 November 2011 02:46 (thirteen years ago)

lol @ this list. if you didn't lol you'd have to &c &c

voting "rockstar 101", it's a bit uhh duhh obvious esp out of album context but as part of its parent album i've gotten plenty of enjoyment out of its stampy grindy attitude

i quite like "there goes my baby" as well but the usher og is nowhere near as transcendent as the angel haze version

"dynamite" is so bland and unmemorable

what's the worst song on this list? of the ones i can actually recall i'd go with "the lazy song" or one of the ke$hae but have a feeling that the eminem may be worse

all i see is angels in my eyes (lex pretend), Thursday, 10 November 2011 08:03 (thirteen years ago)

Eminem - "No Love"
Katy Perry - "The One That Got Away

i don't remember either of these ones -- is "no love" the one that samples haddaway?

i think "lazy song" has to be the worst -- i remember thinking "blah blah blah" was pretty dumb

J0rdan S., Thursday, 10 November 2011 08:05 (thirteen years ago)

oh i guess "the one that got away" is the most recent single considering how many straight KP singles hit #1

J0rdan S., Thursday, 10 November 2011 08:06 (thirteen years ago)

no love is the one that samples haddaway

it is also the one with the "that's why they call it window pane" line

kaygee, Thursday, 10 November 2011 08:21 (thirteen years ago)

"lazy song" definitely the worst. It really calls into question the worth of human culture.

"Dynamite", easily

fauxmarc loi (The Reverend), Thursday, 10 November 2011 09:06 (thirteen years ago)

"there goes my baby" def, not one of usher's best but at least a breath of fresh air from most of this list.

chilli, Thursday, 10 November 2011 09:43 (thirteen years ago)

Blow sneaks it over Dynamite, for me. Had it been Higher instead, Cruz would have won.

Mohombi Khush Hua (ShariVari), Thursday, 10 November 2011 09:57 (thirteen years ago)

Gotta say I don't even remember ever hearing the Eminem, Kay and Usher songs.

Who wants to see the great Pavarotti sit on a pie? (jer.fairall), Thursday, 10 November 2011 14:18 (thirteen years ago)

Black Eyed Peas - "Rock That Body" (peak: #9, follow-up to: "Imma Bee")
Far East Movement - "Rocketeer" (peak: #7, follow-up to: "Like A G6")
Ke$ha - "Blow" (peak: #7, follow-up to: "We R Who We R")

one of these

be happy you didn't hear the Usher song, which managed to be worse than "OMG"

Dienomight.

Rhythm-Al-Shipism (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Thursday, 10 November 2011 17:11 (thirteen years ago)

"Dynomite" would be okay if it didn't have any verses

sex-poodle Al Gore (DJP), Thursday, 10 November 2011 17:13 (thirteen years ago)

Far East Movement has more than one song?

Tower Feist (Eazy), Thursday, 10 November 2011 17:16 (thirteen years ago)

You wouldn't necessarily know it was them. It "features" Ryan Tedder and is pretty much a Tedder track through and through.

i once sat next a sad, tired looking woman on the bus really early in the morning, like 7 45, and she was listening to this song on her ipod. just tragic

that's love the way you lie isn't it? no love might be even worse though.

rocketeer might fit nicely in the "one hit wonders that actually had another hit" thread -- like, it went top 10 but i feel like hardly anyone noticed. is it too soon to call far east movement a one hit wonder?

teledyldonix, Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:25 (thirteen years ago)

Black Eyed Peas - "Rock That Body" (peak: #9, follow-up to: "Imma Bee")
Taio Cruz - "Dynamite" (peak: #2, follow-up to: "Break Your Heart")
Ke$ha - "Blow" (peak: #7, follow-up to: "We R Who We R")

^^^ these are all fine by me, honestly, although "peak: #9" probably helped "Rock That Body," I never heard it HALF as much as I heard most of what's on this list. Voting "Blow."

Eminem and Bruno Mars easily the worst on here, although the format of the thread makes me want to judge them according to "worst third sequel" criteria, ie, given how godawful "Not Afraid" was, can I really say I was disappointed by "No Love"? At least Em musters some facsimile of energy in the course of the song, which is more than I can say for Bruno Mars.
