Tonight at Joe's Pub--Ryuichi Sakamoto + Morelenbaum husband and wife team. RS is in top form. He looked at me and I *melted*. Is it fair to combine such talent with such good looks?

Fair point - not that many hugely talented people are especially cute...mind you, define "cute" at your peril. Thing is, talent makes people cuter by definition - I fancy talent!

I've said too much.

This is a strange issue for me. I get told off by Proper Indie Fan Boys for fancying the musicians that I idolise, like this somehow diminishes both them, and my fandom itself. (any band that is fanciable must = band that GURLS like, therefore bad.)

Yet, men are just as guilty of this, when confronted with talented female performers. They just don't have the practice of NOT sublimating their lust into their worship, the way that women have that double I love them/I want to fuck them dichotomy to their appreciation.

I always thought that men were missing half the enjoyment of fandom that way, but that's just me.

Have I mentioned how hot Andrew Scott is lately? Didn't think so, no.

Is it true that men don't have the practice of lust sublimation as Kate said: "I love them/I want to fuck them." Men of ILM, what do you do with your unsublimated lust?

It prevents me from walking out on a Cat Power show.

yep i totally agree -- something about the cover photo maybe? for me i've been listening to it on my morning commute -- the hazy, soft light makes me think of the mornings we’re getting right now in DC, when it’s hot and humid even as the sun comes up at 6 am

Quite a strict process going on in that -- the pair of phrases is stated alone, then echoed a distance of 1 eighth note, then 2, then 3, ...

Lovely, but I'm starting to lose interest around 4:00.
