― ASPIE Rocky (dayo), Monday, 14 November 2011 23:41 (thirteen years ago)
good question!
― markers, Monday, 14 November 2011 23:58 (thirteen years ago)
*ponders*
can't get this to work, frankly, a bit irritating since I just paid $25 for it.
problem 1: how do I decide what it's going to upload and what it isn't? It just scans the entire library and starts uploading or matching...ok, but I have way way way more than 25,000 songs. It scanned and uploaded, got lots of random error cloud icons, not sure why. problem 2: enable match on my ipod. Oh it won't, because it says I'm not a subscriber. But I am. problem 3: for some reason my computer is scanning and uploading shit again.
so far I've spent $25 for hassle.

apple should stick to making cool devices and leave the cloud to somebody else but I guess that's not gonna happen

I can't get cloud backup to work from my phone either (despite it saying that it does) so it could be my phone (which is a 3gs), but I really don't feel like restoring the thing right now.

I'm concerned that it will replace my music files with new, improved, remastered versions which usually are better, but for some songs/albums the older versions, or those from imports, good reissue labels like Rhino, audiophile labels, etc. sound better.

― buzza, Tuesday, 15 November 2011 22:45 (thirteen years ago)

― markers, Wednesday, 16 November 2011 00:26 (thirteen years ago)
ok well problem discovered, apparently I have 2 itunes ids, which I thought were the same thing (one had @gmail.com in it). but changing it and then changing it back on my phone now means I can't set anything up on it for 90 days for some reason. so fuck this service. better work on my appletv or I'm going to be plenty pissed.
― akm, Wednesday, 16 November 2011 23:00 (thirteen years ago)
ok well apparently this won't even work if you have more than 25k songs in your library. i signed up on a computer with fewer but was planning on managing/uploading stuff from another one which has way more. if it won't let me do that, I'm gonig to try to demand my money back. lame.

lol itunes match totally matched kate bush's new record to some random ass symphonic kraftwerk cover album
― sk8 bush (diamonddave85), Thursday, 17 November 2011 20:46 (thirteen years ago)
sounds like a solid product
― markers, Thursday, 17 November 2011 20:52 (thirteen years ago)
It's probably because that record isn't even out Stateside yet.
― Naive Teen Idol, Thursday, 17 November 2011 21:25 (thirteen years ago)
No, iTunes Match is having a precog moment as Kate's next album in 2016 is, in fact, a set of symphonic Kraftwerk covers.

anyone still using this? have they worked out the kinks? seriously considering it since Spotify isn't available in my area.
― smash williams, Monday, 9 January 2012 17:42 (thirteen years ago)
i've been using it since the first week and haven't had a single problem. really useful for me
― max, Monday, 9 January 2012 19:11 (thirteen years ago)
has anyone had any problems with the matched version downloaded to another device being audibly different/worse than the original you uploaded?
― caek, Monday, 16 April 2012 06:11 (thirteen years ago)
Just bought the today given that I'm mostly a Spotify guy now. What do people think?
― Naive Teen Idol, Saturday, 27 April 2013 23:32 (twelve years ago)
This 25,000 track limit is bullshit. All I want for Christmas is a higher track limit.
― Your Favorite Album in the Cutout Bin, Monday, 23 December 2013 17:53 (eleven years ago)
yup, i would spring for it if i could put my full library up
― Al He Miola (Spottie), Monday, 23 December 2013 22:40 (eleven years ago)
iTunes Match has fucked up my sitch so bad. Now every song exists twice, once in a "file not found" (cloud with exclamation point) and once with happy cloud with down arrow fuuuuuuuuck anyone know how I fix this.
Hate this program. It seems to get worse with each update.
