So is City Boy just a Queen/10cc/Split Enz rip off or something else all together?

definitely 10cc fans. i don't know about the Queen part. they are hard to put in a box. art rock mixed with pop and whatever else they could think of. not always successful at it, but i enjoy the records.

supertramp-esque at times.

Video looks like the cover of Crisis? What Crisis?

first album is quirkier/looser than the later stuff. the most 10cc-ish too.

I like that last song. Vocals like 10cc meets Rocky Horror Picture Show.

I think I read Mutt Lange produced them at some point.

"5-7-0-5" does have things that sound like Queen.

There's a Christian version of 5705 called "Turn On To Jesus" that used to be downloadable from their website.

seven years pass...

Listening to their debut for the first time ever today, not sure how I never checked them out back in the day when I was into 10CC etc. This is great! Arty, clever, not quite prog rock. Wishing for a time machine to go back to 1977 for one of those theater shows with, like, Robin Trower, Be Bop Deluxe and City Boy.
