Album titles that are incomprehensible until you see the cover

Now that the "cover connections" thread seems to have dried up for a while, maybe it might be time for another thread feat. cover pics?

What got me thinking of this was reading a bit about The Mekons, and being confused about the title of their debut album: "the quality of mercy is not strnen". I tried to look for different ways of reading, for crap puns etc, but all I could come up with was that it was a corruption of Shakespeare's line "The quality of mercy is not strained", from The Merchant of Venice. But what was the point of writing "strnen" instead of "strained"? AMG gave me the answer...

Do you know any more albums with titles that seem utterly incomprehensable when separated from the cover art?

Records like "Music From Big Pink" "Hollywood Town Hall" "Mason's California Lunch Room" .. where the album cover shows a building or a street sign of a place you've never heard of...

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Thursday, 12 September 2002 11:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Peter Tork's Back. (I don't know how to post pictures, but suffice it to say it's a picture of his back).

James Blount (James Blount), Thursday, 12 September 2002 12:51 (twenty-three years ago)

b-b-but in that example, surely the title has a meaning without the pic (unless Tork never went away of course). there's another thread about 'visual puns' on LP covers somewhere...

Fishco appears to have been closed for a month or two. I was hoping they were on a summer holiday but I think it's still shut. Sob.

It's just round the corner from a studio where a whole lot of those early Creation records were recorded, fact fans.

Tork never went away.

can maybe find the picture.

piscesboy, Thursday, 12 September 2002 15:20 (twenty-three years ago)

the sad café one is on this page:

(it's geocities, so remote-linking the pic may not work)

Also, here's the Visual puns on album covers thread I referred to before, where the same LP gets a plug!

Re: the Mekons cover....
You must of heard of the idea, you know the one that says that if you get an infinite number of monkeys and put them in front of an infinite number of typewriters for an infinite amount of time, at some point one of them will write the works of Shakespeare. The monkey on the Mekons cover is one of the infinite number.
