I've got a ton of these Fierce Panda compilations. Most have two or three good tracks but, meh, I don't know if I need to continue to own them and not play them. Is there a market for these?

You might have to wait a few years, or decades. It's not a particularly sought-after period of musical history is it? I'd be interested to know what some of your favourite tracks are though.

no market. i like it, but i already have them all, and no fucker wants them these days

a FP POX would take more time than it's worth tbqh, but the 'dead cheap sampler' comp is probably the best set

The first couple are worth a bit, the rest... blimey they made tons didn't they?
I mean, I used to 'collect' them when they came out, but two came out the same day and I decided I needed neither.

the first couple haven't been worth squat for quite a while now
you might get a few bucks for the coldplay 7" or the keane stuff

For me this label was like a kiss of death, if a band was on Fierce Panda I automatically wouldn't listen to them, so much crap.
I must have a couple of things on Fierce Panda though. Kenickie 7" I think.

The last FP thig I got was "This is the last time" Keane.
I'd heard it on the radio and thought "ah that's quite 'nice', the singer sounds a lot like someone I was in a band with". (It wasn't him)...
Anyway, Track 1, ok. Track 2 thought "um, this is the same", and track 3 "and so is this". So, decided this was all the Keane I needed.
Think I was right.

Right, had a butchers on Popsike:
Filter out "Placebo", "Coldplay", "The Music", "Keane" and "Embrace"
Doesn't leave much. Someone got £60 for a 'collection' of FP singles.

a while back I paid £6 for the earlyish comp that had a Green Day song on it figuring I'd be able to make a marginal profit but yeah I'm not even confident of that

Best thing they put out was a Mogwai/ Magoo split 7" of Black Sabbath covers.

Ah yeah I have that one too, on CD tho
― The Eyeball Of Hull (Colonel Poo), Wednesday, 4 January 2012 12:00 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah, I found I have a dozen of these on CD, and that they're pretty much worthless if I go by Amazon.co.uk prices. Ah well, I'll rip them and pull off the handful of tracks I liked (mostly the pop-punk stuff) though giving them a spin last night they sure didn't light my fire like they did ten years ago!

I never owned any of the compilations but I had a fair few singles put out on the label.
The first ever single by Ultrasound is still one of my favourite singles I own and I still have all the Art Brut singles but I must have got rid of quite a few over the years. A few years ago I sold the first Keane single (Everybody's Changing) on Amazon for 50 pounds, obviously to a crazy person.

are they really different versions to the Island recordings?
― Mark G, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 15:38 (thirteen years ago)
I really couldn't say if they were any different at all now. I heard it on the radio in 2004 went and bought it the next day, never really played it again. I sold it in 2008 around the same time their last album came out, not sure I'd get that much now.

amazed! They're still going!
― Mark G, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 16:17 (thirteen years ago)
I wonder if the NME still gives glowing reviews to them.
― The Eyeball Of Hull (Colonel Poo), Wednesday, 4 January 2012 16:24 (thirteen years ago)
the gruff trade ep is really good
they put out a few decent things in the last couple of years - hatcham social, the kitten ep - but their none more indie mantle got pretty much entirely shifted to their label fandango sub label, which imo has put out some genuinely great records..
― woollen shits (electricsound), Wednesday, 4 January 2012 21:41 (thirteen years ago)
the desperate journalist album makes up for all the shit they've put out for the last few years
