"most of the time" for me, and i know that means i've, like, heard "work out" way more times than i ever needed to, but i have a short commute and i never really get 'breakthrough' listening done in the car anyway

listen to my iPod about 80% of the time, radio the rest but 90% of that time is npr or the occasional right-wing radio for lols. very little music radio, mostly the local college station for tunes.

buzza, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 23:19 (thirteen years ago)

About half the time. I listened to my local Top 40 station a lot this holiday.

lumber up, limbaugh down (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 4 January 2012 23:20 (thirteen years ago)

i listen to the radio if i'm driving, which is maybe about once a week on average

The Reverend, Thursday, 5 January 2012 08:41 (thirteen years ago)

"sometimes when i take a taxi", which might be about once-twice a week, 's my frequency

t**t, Thursday, 5 January 2012 16:28 (thirteen years ago)

Never, unfortunately. Some ragamuffin jacked my antenna.

Trip Maker, Thursday, 5 January 2012 17:07 (thirteen years ago)

95% of my music listening is done in my car, lol la

Best-Penis (buzza), Friday, 6 January 2012 05:28 (thirteen years ago)

I always listen to the radio in my car, the breakdown is something like 60% NPR/C-SPAN, 30% Urban Contemporary, 10% Classic Rock. Every now and then I'll check out the country station but it's pretty rare.

I miss having a good college radio station

Half--mostly the news station so I can get traffic, sometimes the classic-rock station so I can keep tabs on whether it's a special Led Zeppelin weekend or a special Pink Floyd weekend, sometimes I flip around. CDs a third of the time, silence the rest.

clemenza, Friday, 6 January 2012 06:06 (thirteen years ago)

"not very often" because *most* of the time the tape deck that connects my iPod in my car actually works. When it doesn't, or when I'm travelling too short a distance to bother connecting my iPod, I'm tuned to CBC Radio.

Who wants to see the great Pavarotti sit on a pie? (jer.fairall), Friday, 6 January 2012 06:08 (thirteen years ago)

i got in the car today and the first three different stations i tried were all playing "it will rain" at the same time

The Reverend, Friday, 6 January 2012 06:12 (thirteen years ago)

Most of the music-oriented public radio stations here suck hard, so I mostly listen to news radio. Most of the time I play cd's though. Voted "not very often". Must get an iPod connection installed, burning cd's from iTunes feels stupid these days.

XM 80%, CDs 15%, sports (on commercial radio) 5%. No iPod connector.

Jeff Wright, Tuesday, 10 January 2012 03:13 (thirteen years ago)

95% radio, 5% CDs (long solo trips only where I can do some serious listening)

Steamtable Willie (WmC), Tuesday, 10 January 2012 03:25 (thirteen years ago)

100% no car

mookieproof, Tuesday, 10 January 2012 03:34 (thirteen years ago)

Usually turn it on when I'm driving around town -- mostly NPR, sometimes the local college station

Roadtrips = CDs or the iPod

Brad C., Tuesday, 10 January 2012 03:37 (thirteen years ago)

Need an option between half and half and not very often.

fun loving and xtremely tolrant (Billy Dods), Tuesday, 10 January 2012 12:21 (thirteen years ago)

Never, as I don't drive. I got in a car the other day and thought "weird, I haven't been in a road vehicle for months".

The ipod to radio connector thing makes my songs sound a bit lo-fi even on the best frequency. I started burning cds again but I listen to the radio 70% of the time. Getting a direct stereo to ipod connection seems like too much money for me

Different folk for different folks (CaptainLorax), Wednesday, 11 January 2012 01:00 (thirteen years ago)

I have 15 minute commute to work, so 90% of the time I'm listening to a podcast, 9% radio (NPR), 1% radio (music station).

funkmaster flex

billstevejim, Wednesday, 11 January 2012 02:31 (thirteen years ago)

nine years pass...

Glass Tiger's "Don't Forget Me" and the Black-Eyed Peas' "I Got a Feeling" back-to-back in the car, followed a few minutes later by "Party Rock Anthem" in a restaurant. It was like the Holy Trinity of Stupid-Great for me.

Radio 100% of the time but it's always WFMU, nothing local.

vpr and npr

xzanfar, Friday, 26 February 2021 02:55 (four years ago)

Only when Bluetooth doesn’t connect and I listen to the local NPR music station until I can stop and fix it.

Joe Biden Stan Account (milo z), Friday, 26 February 2021 03:14 (four years ago)

I don’t listen to my listener supported community station (KFAI, Minneapolis) at home, so car is the only place I catch it. Lately though if I don’t dig the programming I’ve been switching over to classic rock, which is a new development for me.

Three Rings for the Elven Bishop (Dan Peterson), Friday, 26 February 2021 05:03 (four years ago)

radio all the time. there are enough local college stations to keep me happy. wkcr for jazz. wish i could receive wfmu but there's a public station that broadcasts at the same frequency and drowns it out. when i drive in range i switch over.
