i dont know anything from '10 as good as what i listed in '09!

obv there are different ways to measure this, but in terms of long players '09 is one of my favorite years in recent memory

'08-'09 were both highly enjoyable imo

i had a good time in 09

i honestly think that OBJECTIVELY SPEAKING the worst year for rap music has got to be 1980 or some shit--no one who isn't nostalgic would willingly sit through all those endless, repetitive, primitive raps & beats. like outside of a handful of classics per year how many minutes of listenable rap music even existed

haha i assumed it was a weird shot at me being young but i was, in fact, an undergrad in 03 so

idk what i really meant by that, except that i was in college then, & going to lots of parties where that music was being played, and i remember it fondly

anyway pt is '03 was an awesome year

the falloff years for me would have been mid-decade

'06-'07 was pretttty slow

artists/crews that were at their peak or made some of their best music in '03: roc-a-fella/dipset, lil jon, 50/g-unit, t.i., neptunes, three 6, david banner

'06 was definitely a little bit of a bummer at the time but some of the records from that year have aged really well, '07 felt a lot of fun at the time by comparison

yeah 03 was my gut reaction but i did some google research and i guess its mostly that 03 was a low ebb in my interest in rap and not really that bad a year

i think the reason '06 feels so lame now is that that was the exact moment when houston & hyphy were both not living up to the expectations set by the press at that time

"worst year" is obv a kind of meaningless term and every year we all find rap to love but in terms of those rap songs being huge ubiquitous hits it's hard not to pick one of the years post-2008
