I was gonna say "there's no such thing" but then I thought "well, anaal nathrakh really is kinda 'brutal black metal'" & so's Marduk when I think about it. Antaeus is the most consistently good artist here but Marduk's probably more "important"

Order From Chaos. Or Rites of Thy Degringolade. But I like the "brutal" black/death hybrid stuff from North America way more.

I guess I'll vote for Antaeus.

Love Antaeus's Cut Your Flesh and Worship Satan; love Anaal Nathrakh's The Codex Necro; Black Dawn's Blood for Satan is a great album, but it's their only one. Gotta vote Marduk, especially given how awesome Rom 5:12 and Wormwood were.

^^ I finally found an afforable copy of Cut Your Flesh And Worship Satan. Always found Anaal Nathrakh disappointing post-The Codex Necro, which is a fucking awesome album. They're still great live though.

Nyan Cat has gotten off the space rock bandwagon?

I want them to be better. (Sanpaku), Sunday, 15 January 2012 16:48 (fourteen years ago)

I think it clearly demonstrates how out of it I've gotten with metal in the last 5 years that I've only heard of 3 of these groups.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2012 16:54 (fourteen years ago)

Cosmic Slop, Sunday, 22 January 2017 17:44 (eight years ago)

murdered by Varg iirc

Neanderthal, Sunday, 22 January 2017 17:50 (eight years ago)

seeing Marduk in a few weeks. weirdly I was mostly going for Incantation (weird bill), but the mood of the country due to the election and me spinning Opus Nocturne led me to want to pick up the rest of their discography, and I like it quite a lot!
