The chorus goes "we've got a good thing going on", which is followed by an absolutely luscious bit of string-driven melody.

"Me and Mrs. Jones," perhaps? that one just goes "we got a thing going on," but it does have a good string bit just after

Was worried that this was gonna be needle in soul cliche haystack territory but I didn't want to send out a bad vibe and figured maybe somebody was on top of it

Oh wait, I misread. I thought "Me and Mrs. Jones" was the obvious but wrong answer and the MJ album track was the right answer. [overthinking.jpeg]

Love that song but in A House on Fire: The Rise and Fall of Philadelphia Soul Thom Bell is quoted as saying that Billy Paul "would sing so flat it sounded like you could land a 747 on it."

Yeah, I don't know, it's a song I've heard two or three times over the past few years, without knowing anything about it. So not necessarily obvious to everyone. ;-)

Think it was the delay between the correct answer and your acknowledgement that threw me off. That and the extra word "good" which is not in the main lyric but may be part of some vamping at the end.
