From this list either D'Angelo or The xx. Not on this list, I'm most looking forward to is 'Words and Music by Saint Etienne',

fun loving and xtremely tolrant (Billy Dods), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 14:27 (fourteen years ago)

we could always list anticipated albums not covered itt and then do a 2nd poll i guess

Whitechocolatespacecase (some dude), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 14:28 (fourteen years ago)

Hmm, this is between Phoenix and the xx for me. Going with the xx b/c they're more likely to surprise me (in a good way).

Girl I want to take you to a JBR (jaymc), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 14:29 (fourteen years ago)

Not all that fussed about any of these. Sleigh Bells maybe? Animal Collective is an odd omission.

Derartu Cthulhu (NickB), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 14:32 (fourteen years ago)

There's albums there that I'll be curious to hear but I wouldn't say I'm anticipating them all that much. So far there's really nothing on the horizon that has me circling my calendar but I'm sure they'll be some surprises during the year.

Frozen_Warnings, Wednesday, 18 January 2012 14:33 (fourteen years ago)

Bit US-centric this list, non?

it's a US publication! i'm sure there's a UK publication that did a list like this you can find.

Whitechocolatespacecase (some dude), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 14:44 (fourteen years ago)

d'angelo, obviously

after that the xx, phoenix, ross, mariah, green day and, shit, i'll throw t.i. on there after his recent mixtape

tyga mother (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 14:46 (fourteen years ago)

i am unrealistically optimistic about the idea that the new Soundgarden will pick up exactly where they left off pre-breakup, which would probably easily make it my favorite album on this list if true

Whitechocolatespacecase (some dude), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 14:47 (fourteen years ago)

I will be buying:

Sleigh Bells
The xx

I might buy these and hope they all do well:

D'Angelo
Esperanza Spalding
Frank Ocean
Garbage
Jay-Z
Ludacris
T.I.

I expect these to be terrible:

Brandy
Madonna
Mariah Carey

I have no strong opinion on the rest.

Bam! Orgasm explosion in your facehole. (DJP), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 14:49 (fourteen years ago)

yeah Madonna is probably most guaranteed to be a shit sandwich huh

Whitechocolatespacecase (some dude), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 14:51 (fourteen years ago)

Did you hear that horrifying leaked lead single? It is actually the worst song I've ever heard her do.

Bam! Orgasm explosion in your facehole. (DJP), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 14:53 (fourteen years ago)

i'll be happy to avoid that until i'm not longer able to

i dunno. where is dog latin from? point is OF COURSE it's US-centric, fuckin' duh.

Whitechocolatespacecase (some dude), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 14:55 (fourteen years ago)

the fact that America apparently cares about Muse, Taio Cruz, and Twin Door Cinema Club is evidence that we should probably be MORE self-centered

Whitechocolatespacecase (some dude), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 14:56 (fourteen years ago)

I, for one, am desperately interested in the hotly anticipated albums of 2012 in Paraguay

Bam! Orgasm explosion in your facehole. (DJP), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 15:01 (fourteen years ago)

anyone know who mariah is working with this time around? her last album is great (#teamterius) and the last few prior to that all had their jams.

tyga mother (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 15:21 (fourteen years ago)

i'm tepidly interested in the nicki album... i don't think i could listen to her shit for a full hour straight or w/e but i'm interested to see where she goes w/ her new stuff & who she works with

tyga mother (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 15:22 (fourteen years ago)

The only two I care about are Rick Ross and Los Tucanes de Tijuana.

Guessing that there'll be a new Bat For Lashes at some stage, though I haven't heard any news on it at all. Would definitely be excited to hear that.

Derartu Cthulhu (NickB), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 15:26 (fourteen years ago)

i hope the soundgarden album is a bit more like the early stuff rather than down on the upside

Jimmy Riddle Orchestra (Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 15:26 (fourteen years ago)

I would be totally down for new BfL as long as she promises to stop covering The Cure

yeah that would be great; last one was one of those jams that my gf and i totally overlapped on

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 18 January 2012 15:27 (fourteen years ago)

Esperanza Spalding
Jay-Z
Lana Del Rey
Madonna
Mariah Carey
Pearl Jam
Phoenix
Rick Ross
T.I.
The xx

These are the only ones on the list I'm curious to hear. I would be curious for Soundgarden, but I know it will suck because Cornell's voice is shot.

Ha.

I'm looking forward to it if it's more in the vein of Esperanza rather than Chamber Music Society.

The singer – who announced plans to release an instrumental version of 'The ArchAndroid' earlier this year – enjoyed a huge surge in popularity after her performance at this year's Glastonbury festival. Her album sales jumped by 4928 per cent after her set at Worthy Farm, which was the biggest increase any artist at the festival received.

haha holy shit, I don't think I ever saw this factoid

Bam! Orgasm explosion in your facehole. (DJP), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 15:47 (fourteen years ago)

her album had been out a pretty long time at that point, that number is probably way more impressive as a percentage increase than as an actual number

Whitechocolatespacecase (some dude), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 15:48 (fourteen years ago)

Not surprised by that, she blew the (metaphorical) roof off the festival.

fun loving and xtremely tolrant (Billy Dods), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 15:49 (fourteen years ago)

lol if it jumped 4,928 percent after glastonbury i'm pretty sure that just means that she sold 4,928 copies of the album

tyga mother (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 15:50 (fourteen years ago)

haha exactly

Whitechocolatespacecase (some dude), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 15:50 (fourteen years ago)

actively enthusiastically anticipating - think i might vote brandy actually

Brandy
D'Angelo
Mariah Carey
Nicki Minaj
Robert Glasper Experiment
T.I.
The xx

interested in, not necessarily anticipating they'll be good

Lana Del Rey
Ludacris
Madonna

most interested in what dawn richard and kalenna do this year

irina-camelia begu (lex pretend), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 18:09 (fourteen years ago)

I didn't realize D'Angelo's new album was a real thing that was actually finished.

Phoenix, The xx, Jay-Z and Frank Ocean all look promising. Somehow I'm sure Pearl Jam's new stuff will be way more tolerable than Soundgarden's new stuff.

Garbage and No Doubt are still active? Interested in hearing those.

Tucanes de Tijuana, XX and Phoenix for me.

Moka, Wednesday, 18 January 2012 19:26 (fourteen years ago)

I'm actually surprised there's only one Tucanes album coming out this year; they frequently release two albums either simultaneously or nearly so, one that's all love songs and one that's all narco songs.

Phoenix and the XX. The XX because I am sure it will rule, Phoenix because I am extremely curious how they will follow up WAP.

You are confusing excitement with anticipation here. One knows exactly what the next Mariah is going to sound like. Top-notch producer + Mariah = a made bed. Nice, but nothing to get too excited about. Yet no-one knows what the next Phoenix will sound like.

Yet no-one knows what the next Phoenix will sound like.

Seriously? Phoenix always, basically, sound like Phoenix. It's not like they reinvent themselves with every album or anything.

Don't care about any of these that much really. Nicki Minaj probably, and even then my expectations are pretty low. The D'Angelo clearly isn't coming out in 2012.

Can't imagine any band less likely to extend their schtick onto a worthwhile second album than Sleigh Bells.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 13:36 (fourteen years ago)

Seriously? Phoenix always, basically, sound like Phoenix. It's not like they reinvent themselves with every album or anything.

Yes, seriously. You can't possibly claim that 'United' sounds the same as 'Wolfgang', come on, they are completely different! Of course they sound like Phoenix, that's because they are Phoenix, but the question is: how will Phoenix sound like Phoenix next? A trick they have pulled again and again. Innovative and 'new'-sounding, yet so so Phoenix.
