I have always loved his piece "Come To Me" from the original Fright Night, but was equally frustrated that the version on the LP has terrible vocals.
Recently found the instrumental versions online that were apparently part of the unreleased OST to Fright Night 2 (thank you interweb). AND THEN I realized that he also wrote the soundtrack to Terminator and a host of other films.

Any other favorites from this moody, melodramatic, minimalist?

no other favorites from brad fiedel, whom i'd never heard of, but damn, that fright night track is GREAT. watched the movie a while back, and this piece was one the best things about it. somewhere between tangerine dream's risky business soundtrack and some imaginary mike and the mechanics b-side. you know, but like a thousand times better.

James Cameron, who wrote the first Terminator film while living in his car, came knocking for a composer -- how did he find you, and did you two get on the same page?A young agent sent him a tape of mine and he got into listening to it in his car. We had a meeting and he screened the film for me. I wrote the theme the next morning and when he heard it he said, "that's it!"

The score to Fright Night was issued on legit CD for the first time this year by the Intrada label... I think it sold out already cuz it's one that people have been clamoring for for a long time (but it can be found out there by the usual means, I'm sure).
The Terminator ones are totally in print. He also did The Serpent And The Rainbow, which seems like a good platform for a composer to go nuts. I've never seen the film or heard the score though.

I've seen Serpent and the Rainbow, but not heard the score. The one other LP I own of his is the soundtrack to a movie I've never heard of called Nowhere To Hide.

It has some good cues on it. I need to give it another listen.
Definitely need to track down that Fright Night 2011 cd. It doesn't contain all that much music, but still--a very cool item to finally see the light of day.
