you start to like coldplay when you are surrounded by harder-than-thou "i tune my seven string down lower than you" types all day wittering on about banal carnival huckster mcdonalds-metal

Coldplay isn't that bad - indeed better than the average Ja Rule collaboration, poptrance act or NSync lookalike. But why set your standards that low? What's the point in defending a band by comparing it favourably with the bottom of the barrel.
