Someone recommended Moomin on the 2011 end of year poll, I just got my copy of The Story About You, and man this shit is deeeeep. There's nothing fancy or cutting edge about the music, just simple deep house grooves and samples(?), but it feels like there's worlds between the beats. Cool album cover too:

Let's talk about Moomin.

This is a lovely, lovely record, just fantastic, and definitely one of my favorite dance full-lengths of 2011. A great blend of drift, texture, grit, and swing. There's plenty of space in the tracks, but they're never boring. It's funny you started this thread; I've been checking in and posting on that "Hipster House" thread all day, and trying to work out what makes some house work for me and what makes some fall flat. This just works for me. There's a sense of effortlessness combined with self-assurance in the production--it's confident, not tentative, though there are many moments of gentleness and tranquility.

Yeah, effortlessness is a good word to describe it... There's no sense of trickery, no "look at this!" moments, everything just seems to flow naturally.
