Sylford Walker - "Deuteronomy"

Lately I've been obsessed with Sylford Walker's song "Deuteronomy", from the Don Letts comp Dread Meets Punk Rockers Uptown.

Are there other Sylford Walker songs like this? How about other songs produced by Glen Brown? And how is Walker and Welton Irie's singles comp Lamb's Bread International?

his album Lamb's Bread is a heavy roots classic very similar to Burning Spear's '76-'80 albums - well worth getting.

Most of the Sylford Walker sides I've heard are earlier than Deuteronomy and are not particularly special. Deuteronomy is ace though - I love the wierd double-time locomotive rhythm.

Is Sylfords Lamb's Bread related to the dub version by Sly and The Revolutionaries.

I love the "Lambs Bread" LP but felt that the Blood and Fire reissue with Welton (who's never been a particular fave of mine) weakened rather than strengthened the thing.

Greensleeves put out three Glen Brown / Pantomime comps sometime in the mid '80s: one vocal performances, one DJs and one instrumentals. I heard the former two and thought they were great, though earlier and less heavy than "Lambs Bread". I have a couple of other Glen Brown records and they're best described as patchy. When he hits his stride, though, he's fantastic.

Dr. C: dunno, but I'd be surprised.

That shd be Pantomine, of course, which makes it the scourge of any on-line search...
