Anyone up for a meet before schoolwork starts in earnest?

sundar subramanian, Tuesday, 17 September 2002 16:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Of course, I'm in! Let's see if we can make this one a bit better attended than the last couple...surely there are a few of you we haven't met yet...Kim? physics dave? (Are you two still too busy, mark p and Fritz?)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 16:07 (twenty-three years ago)

sorry, i live in montreal during the school year. party on tho

ddd, Tuesday, 17 September 2002 16:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Im all for it, though I am having a set of odd weekends up ahead.

yes, we need to not scare the others. I guess Im not helping.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 16:39 (twenty-three years ago)

I know I keep saying this but um, maybe? I have a few things going on and it's kind of hard to get a free night these days. When/where are we thinking of?

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 20:21 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm working 12 hr days most of the time & taking 2 classes but maybe

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 20:28 (twenty-three years ago)

just keeping the faith.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 18:50 (twenty-three years ago)

How about next wknd? The night of the 27th or 28th?

sundar subramanian, Thursday, 19 September 2002 15:15 (twenty-three years ago)

haha interpol plays the horseshoe on the 28th!

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 19 September 2002 18:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Maybe we could all go to Interpol and sit there and shout requests for "The Cutter" or "Love Will Tear Us Apart" between songs.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 19 September 2002 19:41 (twenty-three years ago)

request ''atmosphere''.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 19 September 2002 19:48 (twenty-three years ago)

We can dance dance dance to the radio!

I'll lose control!

Or we could save up till one night of the Rheostatics what, 14 night stand at the shoe.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 20 September 2002 00:36 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm okay with the 28th or 29th, probably, but I'm willing to work around what everyone else comes up with...don't think I have anything else on the go right now.

Kim, if you're still reading, is any night better for you than any other? WE MUST GET YOU INCLUDED IN ONE OF THESE. Especially since you were one of the architects of the original FAP Toronto, in spirit.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 20 September 2002 13:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Ping! Anyone have any preferences for location this time? Is this maybe the right time to say C'est What? so that Mr. N can have the beer pie? And if C'est What? is a go, is the restaurant part the section of choice? (That'd be my preference.)

I should also pipe up and say that there's this restaurant out my way called El Sol that I'm interested in checking out, but it is a bit off the beaten track.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 23 September 2002 00:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry Sean, I did miss this thread for a few days there, but then I tracked it down again. I can't promise anything but It actually looks as if there's a decent chance I'll be able to sneak out for a few hours this weekend. If it's Friday, I'm afraid that I'll be deadly boring to be around. My work week tends to completely do me in as far as conversation goes. Is Saturday better for anyone else as well? I'm downtown anyway, so anywhere on the Esplanade works for me (no objections to C'est What).

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 02:27 (twenty-three years ago)

How much is Interpol? I saw the video and it's OK. I may consider going if it's not too much and there's other people going. Sat's fine by me. Possibly we could meet slightly earlier. I'll go wherever you want to meet.

sundar subramanian, Wednesday, 25 September 2002 14:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Since the original target date was this weekend and there's been very little in the way of feedback so far, time to throw this back up to the top of new answers...does everyone want to try for this weekend, or should we postpone until next weekend instead? (That'd be better for my ability to buy a beer or something, anyhow.)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 26 September 2002 18:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Im cool with any date. I live in Pickering so its not as if I have a social life. That and the money saving thing for Terrastock/apartment really have put a damper on it.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 26 September 2002 19:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh sure, I finally think I can make it this time and Sean's gonna bail on us. Sheesh. ;)

I do think I have to go out of town *next* weekend, so I dunno. But I might have the date for that wrong.

Living in Pickering could be worse - you could be in Oshawa.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 26 September 2002 21:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Kim: If you're going to show up, I'll be there. What day is better? Let's pick it and make it stick.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 26 September 2002 22:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Sean, I was just teasing you, but I did already say that Saturday would be better so keep up will you?
heh heh heh. I'm funny. Ok no, but seriously, I'm still not 100% sure I'll be able to show at all, but unless I'm counting wrong, looks as if there'd be at least three people good for Saturday anyway. Not a raging party I know, but still - are there more that could be expected if it were next week instead?

Bottom line - don't choose this weekend on my account, but if you guys go anyway, I'll do my best to make it.

Kim (Kim), Friday, 27 September 2002 03:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey if I was in Oshawa at least minor bands would play the town. Pickering has nothing, absolutely nothing, Even Whitby has at least a good Steakhouse. And it has no trian or bus or subway connections past 12:13. You can get to Markham or Misssassagguuuaaa at any hour of the night, but Pickering if you miss that last train is at least a 50 dollar cab ride.

I hate suburbs, living 5 years in a town I could stumble home from any of the bars, and did so on multiple occasions made living in this hell hole worse.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 27 September 2002 03:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I feel your pain. I lived in Burlington for a year and I swear, I barely ever left my apartment. Houses and mini-malls, houses, Tim Horton's and mini-malls.

Kim (Kim), Friday, 27 September 2002 04:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Saturday's good for me so long as it's earlier in the evening - around dinnertime (6-ish) maybe? I'm planning to go to the Martin Arnold concert at Arrayspace (Bathurst/King area) around 9. Next wknd might not be great. My sister's visiting and I don't want her getting mixed up with the likes of you lot.

sundar subramanian, Friday, 27 September 2002 16:12 (twenty-three years ago)

But sundar, we're a good bunch! Well, at least some of us are. Okay, we're all music nerds and your sister will hate us. This weekend it is.

So. Let's say tomorrow (Saturday!) at C'est What at 6pm-ish. (For those who've never been there, it's 67 Front Street East, just east of the corner of Front and Church, on the south side of the street, down the flight of stairs. Probably the easiest way to get there is to take TTC to Union and walk east until you get there.) I usually sit in the front portion, away from the smoke.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 27 September 2002 17:59 (twenty-three years ago)

ps. Kim, you're mean to me! Wah! (but I still want you to show up!)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 27 September 2002 18:01 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll try to make it. The Sheppards Pie is calling my name.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 27 September 2002 18:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey, I get along best with people who like me despite my cruelly evil disposition. A good sign. Ok, looks like I can make it too. I think Sean's the only one I might recognise from a photo, and as I usually don't wear my glasses for distance - even that may not happen. http://www16.brinkster.com/kimd/shoebox1.html I'm the one on the right (imagine me sans goofy grin and it'll be a fairly representative photo I hope) so 6-ish, see ya.

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 28 September 2002 01:06 (twenty-three years ago)

My picture is on this site

sundar subramanian, Saturday, 28 September 2002 15:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Thanks you guys. I had fun.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 29 September 2002 02:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Kim looks years younger than in that picture.

Meanwhile I aparently haven't aged well.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 29 September 2002 02:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Aw you look nice. I didn't mean it! ;)

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 29 September 2002 02:36 (twenty-three years ago)

If I ever need to feel young I can wear my hat backwards to the beer store to get IDed, so fear not Kim.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 29 September 2002 02:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Last time I go ID'd was at the Casino Niagra. We ought to have a late night casino road trip some time. Plus a breakfast at Denny's. Now that's living. P.S. I watched Iron Chef just now and thought of you.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 29 September 2002 03:12 (twenty-three years ago)

P.P.S. Ned, You BASTARD.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 29 September 2002 03:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Wait, what? What did I do?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 29 September 2002 08:22 (twenty-three years ago)

The Challengar Kim apppears to be calling Ned a bastard.

Actress: How interesting, I can't wait to try it myself.
Actor: Huh, my mother used to do that at home all the time.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 29 September 2002 14:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Thanks, all, for showing up last night, and good to finally meet you, Kim. And Ned, you're a BASTARD because you show up to everyone else's meetups but ours.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 29 September 2002 14:38 (twenty-three years ago)

tee hee!

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 29 September 2002 15:17 (twenty-three years ago)

*weeps* I'll yet visit you people. And if you're all busy on the day or days, then YOU HAVE ONLY YOURSELF TO BLAME and I will wash my hands of you.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 29 September 2002 16:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Ned, the toughness of your stance is a tad unconvincing when you precede it with weeping. You're enabling the abuse = you must secretly love it.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 29 September 2002 16:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Bah! I do NOT secretly love abuse -- I just like to deflect the serious stuff beforehand by being disarming. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 29 September 2002 16:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Oho! Once again, the winky face says otherwise.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 29 September 2002 17:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Astounding!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 29 September 2002 20:43 (twenty-three years ago)
