Primavera Sound Festival 2012

Got my ticket months ago. Line-up looks pretty smashing as usual.

Can't make Barca this year so am going to Porto instead. Don't mention The Cure or I might cry.

Bjork's pulled out. Looking at the lineup, gotta say it packs a lot less of a punch than last year when I was pretty much dragging my pals around at high speed from stage to stage so as not to miss anyone. Don't know if that's a reflection on the lineup or how up to date I am on current music, but I'm just not that fussed about (or haven't heard of) a lot of these.

My longlist of go-sees includes The Cure, Aeroplane, Chairlift, Demdike, Harvey Milk, James Ferraro, Jeff Mangum, John Talabot, Josh T Pearson, Justice, LFO, Liturgy, Mayhem, Melvins, Napalm, Nick Garrie, Other Lives, Richard Hawley, Rustie, St Etienne, Scuba, Sleigh Bells, Spoek Mathambo, The Men, OTC, The Pop Group, The Rapture, Thee Oh Sees and White Denim.

I guess I can't complain about that, but few of these am I swooning over or anything - a lot of it looks very much like "stand and stare" material rather than full on party times.

Can anyone make any further recommendations?

I've seen some interesting shit so far this weekend. Mayhem was the most unexpected things so far- blazing pigs heads on the Vice stage(!). The Cure played for about 3 months, with 25 encores. White Denim are my new favourite live act. Enjoyed (but had never heard of) Trashtalk. Aarabmuzik is superhuman.

if you didn't see Jeff mangum yesterday i suggest you queue early. yesterday i paid €2 for a reservation thinking that's that. then joined the reservation queue which is 45mins long to find that he has been playing for all that time and got to see the last 10 mins. Thanks primavera
