listening to ckut (montreal community/campus radio - http://music.ckut.ca/2012/04/30/mays-montreal-sessions-mutek-sessions/) right now and they're talking about how Kode 9 is going to be doing a live tribute thing to La jetée - "Hyperdub boss KODE9 takes a rare turn at live soundtracking with collaborators MFO and Ms. Haptic in the Unsound-commissioned live audiovisual homage to the classic sci-fi film “La Jetée” by French director Chris Marker." cool.

yeah apparently he did that at unsound fest last year, but I haven't seen any reviews?

I felt mild enthusiasm until I realized how many awesome things are really going on! Good balance of nerding out and dancing out

yeah, i always start to actually feel enthusiastic about mutek at the beginning of May, when i realize that yes, there are A LOT of really good things going on FOR FIVE DAYS. (i was so tired at the end of it all last year. trying not to think about that, haha...)

I am kind of scared because I'm getting over a nasty cold now and last time I had one on the way back. Having this now means I'll be a-ok by Mutek time, right?

Sunday evening...I could potentially make the final late event, but my body will be thinking it's five hours later than it is and I'll have to get up for work on Monday morning so I'm kind of dubious.

Only one day with genuine "which venue do I go to at this time" regrets for me, I think. Nocturne 3 will be tricky.

I am mutekking. Friends stuck in line to pick up their passes as dinner went long. Chilling in theater.

I am also in this line for my pass...

They ended up being put in the wrong line, then just given a ticket for the current event, do they'll be back in line later...

I just napped to Lustmord. I approve.

I was stuck behind a group last night! I was trying to take a bus up St Laurent and we got stuck behind them. I ended up bailing on the bus and walking past the entire group on my way to the plateau.

Furthermore, that same night, RBMA will also partner with MUTEK for the world premiere presentation of Borderland, the new collaborative project of Juan Atkins and Moritz von Oswald - pioneers of the Detroit and Berlin scenes, respectively. Capping off the festival as part of the Nocturne 5 event, this performance combines Moritz von Oswald's dub and minimal sensibilities with Juan Atkins' looped and layered rhythms. The festival's final Nocturne event will also feature the performances of Dictaphone, a German trio known for its striking cinematic atmospheres, and Holland-based duo Juju and Jordash, whose oft-praised analog and improvised sets are bound to leave festivalgoers on a high note.

Lastly, RBMA will also take part in a special Boiler Room showcase on the last day of the festival. The product of a London/Berlin-based collective, Boiler Room has become one of the most popular and influential online platforms for electronic music. The collective throws intimate, invite-only events that are streamed live with some of the most sought-after artists and DJ talent. This MUTEK appearance will mark Boiler Room's first ever stop in Montreal.

I was attempting to explain why I can't or shouldn't go to Mutek the other day to a friend, in the context of the discount ticket period expiring, and he told me I should go. He says Mutek makes me happy but I've been several years in a row. Hrrrm.
