It's their eyes, they're kind of shifty.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 15:43 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm not sure ronan, it could be the ears.

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 15:48 (twenty-three years ago)

i just wish Goths would actually act the fucking part for once instead of just dressing up like it. i wish they really DID practice dark arts and know shit about it and listen to the bands that make Sisters Of Mercy sound like Atomic Shitten (see what i did there) instead of making a conscious choice to wear the gear in their desperate quest to look as different as they are made out to be by townie monkeys...its almost as irritating as those who wear skate clothes but dont skate, heh

blueski, Wednesday, 18 September 2002 15:48 (twenty-three years ago)

no, maybe it is the eyes.

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 15:51 (twenty-three years ago)

theyre normal people u no!

i thought this is why everybody makes fun of them.

Honda, Wednesday, 18 September 2002 17:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Its that whole black clothing thing I can't handle. I mean its hard enough to see them in the daylight do they have to make it that much harder to run over them in the night.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 17:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 17:47 (twenty-three years ago)

vic (vicc13), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 18:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Goths are good at clove cigarettes and
that weird swaying dance with their hands behind their back
to siouxsie and the banshees.
but why don't they just lighten up and evolve into candy-ravers?
cos seriously, what does the world need more than kids with stuffed animal backpacks, giant jeans and plastic wallet chains?
OR, how about both groups go to and island and fight it out a la "Battle Royale". Whichever team loses has their social group eliminated!

paul b, Wednesday, 18 September 2002 18:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Have endless hours of fun with your Tamagothi!!!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 19:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Goth girls were some of the first I ever hooked up with, as a callow youth; they seemed more open to... experimentation. It's quite okay for a 17 year to sit in a cemetary smoking cloves at three in the morning... but grown-up goths just look silly. There's nothing spooky about going to a 7-11 for a pack of Newports... you won't encounter tombs or crypts at TGI Fridays... grow up and buy an Izod Lacoste shirt, preferably white.

andy, Wednesday, 18 September 2002 21:40 (twenty-three years ago)

well argued graham. i agree...

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 22:01 (twenty-three years ago)

I 'm not against goth. I'm against people who write like they're composing a fucking text message.

duane, Sunday, 27 April 2003 07:01 (twenty-two years ago)

dang it

ron (ron), Sunday, 27 April 2003 07:15 (twenty-two years ago)

There's things I could tell you, but they would only make you pale and tragic-looking. Things like:

I never thought that I would find myself
In bed amongst the stones
The columns are all men
Begging to crush me
No shapes sail on the dark deep lakes
And no flags wave me home

God, I'm sad.

However superficially, goths are among the very few teen subcultures that actually take an interest in the most disturbing fact of our existence, namely that we are going to die.

On another tack altogether, imagine you're 17, skinny, pale and tall with high cheekbones and black hair. You might as well face facts - you would make a good goth. You should go with it.

That's a perfect description of the goths at my school, if you replace "die" with "play DDR"

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Sunday, 27 April 2003 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

DDR = Dance Dance Revolution? Is this what goths do?

Adam A. (Keiko), Sunday, 27 April 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Apparently so.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Sunday, 27 April 2003 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

no not "Dance Dance Revolution" - goths like to play DDR by pretending they live in East Germany. O the wacky goth hijinx that ensue when the neighbors steal the radio and sell it for a tin of beans!

Pashmina it must be said is OTM x100

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Sunday, 27 April 2003 16:46 (twenty-two years ago)

one of the first girls I ever went out with was a goth and she was very nice. as a result, to this day i maintain a certain fondness for members of this subculture and in light of all the beef they get, i generally feel duty-bound to stand up for them regardless of my musical/fashion-based opinions...
