THe band was called Orphx, and they were incredibly good, and have been for years...in every town (second class city) there is countless bands that you're sure nobody has heard that you feel are among the best in za wurld...comments?

This week it's: The Capital Stereo Conspiracy

I'll put a marker down HERE that in 12 Months time The Capital Stereo Conspiracy will be recognised as one of the most important leftfield bands from the UK !

Download the track: The Catch Sequence

Taken from my weblog -

The Capital Stereo Conspiracy

John Kennedy on Xfm has just played a new band from Sunderland, called The Capital Stereo Conspiracy.

I predict a big future, for The Capital Stereo Conspiracy - they sound abit like My Bloody Valentine circa Loveless, or Lovliescrushing, or indeed Xinlisupreme or Acceleradeck.

Drowned in Sound are on the case with a profile of The Capital Stereo Conspiracy

The Capital Stereo Conspiracy make dark avante garde electro headfuck music that is in turn haltingly eloquent and yet strangely noisenik at the same time

The buzz generated from this limited release has also ensured interest from a number of record companies including Warp records and V2, who personally requested copies of the recording·

The promo is currently in the process of being sent out to national and regional press·

According to John Kennedy, The Capital Stereo Conspiracy aim to release a release single in January - and on the supreme quality of the track I heard - lets hope a debut album surfaces in 2003 ! remember the name !

NB - you can download two TCSC tracks see the bottom of the DIS webpage, or better still go direct to Vitaminic. Get to it now ! or soon !

You mean non-local bands, right? (there are plenty of great bands that are local, I'm also assuming non-forgotten bands, because there are so many great obscure 80s and 60s bands)

I can think of two current ones (people may know them): the Helms, and Molginy. Both with great live shows, lots of creativity in thier performance method. the Helms have a song where all three of them play the guitarists guitar (and it sounds good.) They use quadraphonics with guitar amps behind the audience. Molginy is more humorus and have a song where they play a taped song and take a break on stage.

The Veldt, who admittedly aren't and haven't been for some time. But dammit they were godlike.

six months pass...
The Tim Malloys

They play great "bloody Irish music" but no one seems to have heard of this kick ass band.

Gigvest. They were protégés of the Rheostatics (sort of). Now the Elvis', so some such name. Unbelievably good. If I ever get a band together again we'll be covering their song "S.O.S.".
