i was so amped for this album when it was released that i had to own the collectors edition. they only sold it on the bands web site and remember putting out an email telling them i only want the limited edition version otherwise cancel order, lol.

"Happy" is FOR ALL TIME, but this record tended to lose me after "This Boy Is Exhausted" and I don't even remember how any of those songs go now.

i liked it upon release, but the so-of-the-period vocals really kill it for me. it just brings back memories of that whole era that creed was actually at the epicenter of things, to think of such months

Hopeless is what hooked me and whenever I come back to the album that song still kills me.

I loved this record when it came out. It still holds up as one of the best records by a rock band for the 2000s, yet after 2003 I never listened to it much.

"She Sends Kisses," but could've picked just about any of them. Favorite album of all time.

Led by ex-folkie Toni Brown (the principal composer) and ex-blueswoman Terry Garthwaite (whose three rhythm songs sizzle joyously), this may not be your idea of rock and roll. The music revolves around Brown's piano, which rolls more than it rocks, and the band goes for multi-percussion rather than the old in-out. I find it relaxing and exciting and amazingly durable; I can dance to it, and I can also fuck to it. The musical dynamic pits Brown's collegiate contralto against Garthwaite's sandpaper soul, and the lyrics are feminist breakthroughs. "Too Late, but Not Forgotten" remembers a trailer camp while "Red Wine at Noon" touches international finance, but the two protagonists are united by one overriding fact--they're victimized as wives. I loved this record in early '04 but I replayed it last fall and was bored by the vocals. The arrangements are still ace.

haha i would usually skip the first few tracks and start w/ "this boy.."

prob "everyone chooses sides" or "ex-girl collection", but a couple of those bashers like "per second second" and "faster gun" deserves some love

put this on for the first time in 10 years. i skip the downtempo/ballads. but "happy" and "hopeless" are on repeat.

Skipping the ballads is madness, "Thirteen Grand" and "13 Months In 6 Minutes" are key

I was sad to hear about Charles Bissell's health issues.

it's just such a weird album for me to love. it just doesn't feel like me. but i do love it. i can't even think of another record like it that i really like. listening to it now. thus, reflection.

"Hopeless" is everything I could want from a song

Happy 20 to this classic.

It's a minor miracle when an album and myself age together perfectly in sync, but this one did it.
