kinski (kinski), Friday, 20 September 2002 12:26 (twenty-three years ago)

It must be Friday afternoon....

zebedee, Friday, 20 September 2002 12:51 (twenty-three years ago)

well, there you go: the OST to "Thank God It's Friday" - I bet nobody owns that LP anymore!

Jeff W (Jeff W), Friday, 20 September 2002 12:54 (twenty-three years ago)

got it

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Friday, 20 September 2002 13:13 (twenty-three years ago)

me too. for proof -
the 4th piece of vinyl is a 1-sided donna summer
song. seriously there's not a decent track on the
whole thing.

betcha nobody has any late period leo sayer on cd.

piscesboy, Friday, 20 September 2002 13:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Who had a Ludus recd before the recent LTM re-issues?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 20 September 2002 13:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Hard to Swallow, Vanilla Ice.

Lord Custos Alpha (Lord Custos Alpha), Friday, 20 September 2002 13:38 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm guessing...

Babylon Zoo 'The Boy With The X-Ray Eyes'
White Town 'Women In Technology'

blueski, Friday, 20 September 2002 14:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Anything by Too $hort...sorry, I just don't have it

rms (rms), Friday, 20 September 2002 14:46 (twenty-three years ago)

* the original albums from the Langley Schools Music Project CD

I have the Wendy & Bonnie CD!

Mike Appelstein (mike a), Friday, 20 September 2002 15:20 (twenty-three years ago)

White Town 'Women In Technology'

Got it. Fun album.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 September 2002 15:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Nobody owns the Blue Hippos' Forty Forty, but you all should. ¥

christoff (christoff), Friday, 20 September 2002 15:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Dam you Ned...i bet you have Kula Shaker's 'Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts' as well!

how about 'Conscience' by Jesus Jones? 'Elemental' by Tears For Fears' or that last Inspiral Carpets album...

blueski, Friday, 20 September 2002 15:37 (twenty-three years ago)

I own that Kula Shaker one as well. Oh, the shame!

kate, Friday, 20 September 2002 16:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Does anyone own the 3rd Shampoo record? Can you make me a copy?

Arthur (Arthur), Friday, 20 September 2002 16:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Dam you Ned...i bet you have Kula Shaker's 'Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts' as well!

Jesus Christ NO. I'll let Nicole's sister handle that one.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 September 2002 17:03 (twenty-three years ago)

The fourth 2 Unlimited album.

Siegbran Hetteson (eofor), Friday, 20 September 2002 17:21 (twenty-three years ago)

I have ludus' nue au soleil, had it for years

geoff, Friday, 20 September 2002 17:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Mine.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 20 September 2002 17:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Damn! I love Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts. It's over-ambitious and utterly ridiculous, but it's bloody good fun. I'm not sure I know what a Mystical Machine Gun is (or a Time Worm come to that) but I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy a half hour in the company of anyone who claimed to be hanging on to one (or both).

wagstaff, Friday, 20 September 2002 17:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Babylon Zoo 'The Boy With The X-Ray Eyes'

HAHAHAHAHAHA I OWN THIS!!!! "Spaceman" is still a great song.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 20 September 2002 17:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Does anyone own any Essential Logic? I don't think they ever made it to CD.

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Friday, 20 September 2002 19:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I *USED* to own that Mac-less Bunnymen album, REVERBERATION. `Zat count?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 20 September 2002 19:43 (twenty-three years ago)

I had a Ludus record but gave it to a Morrissey fan as a prezzie.
a friend said I should...

who else owns the Snatch album? (Judy Nylon/Patti Palladin)

Paul (scifisoul), Friday, 20 September 2002 19:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Morrissey 'Irish Blood, English Heart' (or whichever way round it is).

Cos it's not out yet. Yes, haha.

DavidM (DavidM), Friday, 20 September 2002 21:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm amazed no-one mentioned this one, yet:
Rob & Fab - Yes, We're Really Singing this Time - The Remixes
I mean, jeez, it only sold 2000 copies. That would be 'statistical noise' even to a tiny indie label.

Lord Custos Alpha (Lord Custos Alpha), Friday, 20 September 2002 21:29 (twenty-three years ago)

I, too, own that bloody Kula Shaker album. Even more embarassing: it was my first foray into "modern" music (basically didn't listen to anything released after 1990 until 1999.)

Daniel_Rf, Friday, 20 September 2002 21:31 (twenty-three years ago)

I have Ludus' "Nue au Soleil" on vinyl too! - Up until reading this thread today, I thought I was the only person who had this. I used to play "My Cherry is in Sherry" when I dj-ed this new wave night back in 1998-1999. No-one ever danced to it.

My contribution: Love Spit Love. Hehe.

Simon, Friday, 20 September 2002 22:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I've got essential logic 7"s. don't think there was a CD although there was an LP back in the day. I used to own the love spit love cd. I sold it, obviously.

Tin Machine?

simon 803 (simon 803), Friday, 20 September 2002 23:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Got both Love Spit Love and Tin Machine stuff kicking around here. Being a Bowie completist in particular is sometimes traumatizing.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 21 September 2002 00:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Tin Machine here.

Sean (Sean), Saturday, 21 September 2002 00:36 (twenty-three years ago)

pick rare ones:

how about rammelzee v. k-rob Beat Bop - the real one, not on ego trip cd.

that eldridge cleaver record, or 'tune in, turn on, drop out'

fab 5 freddy / bee-side : 'change the beat' 12" single

ron (ron), Saturday, 21 September 2002 00:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Chynna Philips, "Naked."

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Saturday, 21 September 2002 00:58 (twenty-three years ago)

"mother of a 1000 dead" (circa Falklands War) was released as completely transparent flexi-single, presumably to avoid mother's mercenaries ? did it make it in the UK at all or was it just sent to the colonies ? it's just that i don't know if i own it or not

george gosset (gegoss), Saturday, 21 September 2002 03:48 (twenty-three years ago)

John might well have a winner. Does anyone have Andrew Ridgeley's Son of Albert?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 21 September 2002 03:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Does anyone here own "Climate of Hunter"?

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Saturday, 21 September 2002 04:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Boards of Canada, Twoism, original pressing.

bryan, Saturday, 21 September 2002 04:30 (twenty-three years ago)

I own the third Shampoo album...did I say that out loud?

Charlie (Charlie), Saturday, 21 September 2002 05:21 (twenty-three years ago)

I know someone who owns Twoism, the sorry bastard!

paul cox (paul cox), Saturday, 21 September 2002 05:30 (twenty-three years ago)

that sorry bastard is a marked man!

blueski, Saturday, 21 September 2002 08:30 (twenty-three years ago)

well, after much asking it appears that none of you lot own Clementine - Head Nodder, or Norman - The Big Deal. so, them!

gareth (gareth), Saturday, 21 September 2002 10:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Does anyone own Mark Owen's solo album?

kinski (kinski), Saturday, 21 September 2002 12:38 (twenty-three years ago)

OK, how about any of the pre-Twoism BOC albums?

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Saturday, 21 September 2002 13:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Here's one : 17 Pygmies - "Captured in Ice" - a mid 80's synth/guitar pop band from California (?). I have never seen a copy in a secondhand shop in the UK or The USA for 15 years. I know two people who have this and neither they nor I have ever met anyone who's ever heard of it. It's ace btw!

On the Ludus thing upthread I wasn't surprised to see the a few ILM-ers had Neu au Soliel, but who's got an original of The Pickpocket tape or Danger Came Smiling?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Saturday, 21 September 2002 13:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Ned, I used to go through some pretty intense internal struggles over Son of Albert - standing in the record store, holding it in my hands, the internal dialogue running:

Voice 1: Buy it! You'll never see it again once it's gone! It's probably the worst record ever! Everybody says it is! You know you want it!

Voice 2: What are you, crazy? You'll listen to it once! There are a thousand good records in here that you've never heard and you're gonna buy Son of Albert? Give the money to charity, man! Jesus!

And so forth.

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Saturday, 21 September 2002 13:53 (twenty-three years ago)

I would have bought the used copy I saw at the one place, but too expensive. I wanted it down to $1 first.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 21 September 2002 13:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Ok, how about the 5th Velvet Underdround album, you know the one that had songs written by Doug Yule, and featured no original members?

Chewshabdoo (Chewshabadoo), Saturday, 21 September 2002 15:49 (twenty-three years ago)

i got "change le beat", ron. it's not that rare.

i got climate of hunter.

bob zemko (bob), Saturday, 21 September 2002 16:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Bjork's 1977 album?

A Nairn (moretap), Saturday, 21 September 2002 16:24 (twenty-three years ago)

bob, sell it to me NOW. don't worry, it's not that rare, you'll find another one right away!!

ron (ron), Saturday, 21 September 2002 16:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry Dr. C, not only do I have a couple of 17 Pygmies albums, but they're also a constant subject on the Savage Republic mailing list. (17 Pygmies was made up of a couple of ex-SR members, one of which: Robert Loveless is in Scenic)

And sorry Chewshabdoo, I've got the VU _Squeeze_ album.

It's kinda easy to namecheck something super-obscuro like the Langley Schools album or any of the Yes/Moody Blues solo albums, but I'm wondering what the most mainstream album is that no one here ones.

Like does anyone here own any Billy Joel albums?

Chris Barrus (xibalba), Saturday, 21 September 2002 18:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Re: Son of Albert
Andrew Ridgely is the New Dylan! He's better than your Beatles or Rolling Stones! ANDREW RIDGELY IS JESUS! BOW DOWN BEFORE THE AUGUST MAJESTY THAT IS ANDREW RIDGELY!

Lord Custos Alpha (Lord Custos Alpha), Saturday, 21 September 2002 18:45 (twenty-three years ago)

ron (ron), Saturday, 21 September 2002 18:47 (twenty-three years ago)

N0RM4N PH4Y, Saturday, 21 September 2002 18:58 (twenty-three years ago)

I own Billy Joel albums. Nylon Curtain was my favourite album when I was, like, 10!

kate, Saturday, 21 September 2002 19:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Norm - I used to, and my friends N and T each have it.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Sunday, 22 September 2002 09:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Sean (Sean), Monday, 23 September 2002 18:01 (twenty-three years ago)

I've got a Snatch vinyl compilation, is that the one you mean, Paul? Was there one back in the Seventies?

Does anyone have Sailor's Trouble?

Charlie, I want that Shampoo record!!!

Arthur (Arthur), Monday, 23 September 2002 21:53 (twenty-three years ago)

An area CD store has a New Kids on the Block remix album that they can't give away. Will anyone here cop to owning it?

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 23 September 2002 22:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Arthur, when I get back to Blighty, it's all yours...well, a copy of it at any rate. Mostly co-written by Stanley/Wiggs/Catt, it's...it's...a can't bring myself to say it...pretty rum.

Charlie (Charlie), Monday, 23 September 2002 23:37 (twenty-three years ago)

An area CD store has a New Kids on the Block remix album that they can't give away

Milli Vanilli had one too!

Daniel_Rf, Monday, 23 September 2002 23:38 (twenty-three years ago)

I got "Climate of Hunter" for um, $3 maybe. Sorry.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 00:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I've got Elemental. The one that reallllly no one owns is Raoul and the Kings of Spain.

Vinnie (vprabhu), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 19:51 (twenty-three years ago)

-anything by Steve Forbert (I found a Romeo's Tune 7" nailed to a pole with an ad for a club stuck over the label)

-Beatle Barkers (Beatles songs sung by sampled dogs and sheep; my brother bought it recently)

Keith McD (Keith McD), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 22:01 (twenty-three years ago)

anything by Steve Forbert

I have TWO albums by Steve Forbert!

Sean (Sean), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 22:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah I've got climate of hunter too and so does my boyfriend.

hmmm, strawberries oceans ships forest by The Fireman (youth = paul mccartney?) ??? (I have and really like it; does anyone else?)

there are some things that I imagin'd be unrare in America or whereever but don't seem to have really been very available here, like: Abunai!, the Microphones, Swell/Marianne Nowottney, Mirah yom Tov Zeitlyn, and Sarah White for example.

from a hard-to-get angle, maybe White Noise?

spectra, Wednesday, 25 September 2002 03:35 (twenty-three years ago)

the Kevin Rowland solo album with the dress?

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 03:51 (twenty-three years ago)

"My Beauty" is a beauty, but only the edition with "Thunder Road" on it. This is the emotional climax of the whole record, and the album as issued just doesn't make complete sense without it.

Fortunately (?) as it sold so pitifully and was reviewed so meanly, plenty of promo copies with "Thunder Road" included are always available from 2nd-hand shops in London.

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 25 September 2002 07:21 (twenty-three years ago)

I expected to see laods of second ahnd copies of My Beauty but never saw any - as nobody bought it. Except I did eventually - so is it only the promo versions with Thunder Road - why'd it miss the main issue?

tigerclawskank, Wednesday, 25 September 2002 08:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Springsteen's lawyers apparently objected to Rowland changing the lyrics.

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 25 September 2002 10:07 (twenty-three years ago)

When online music place 'peoplesound' did albums you could buy, I figured I could have Robert Johnson on my label. Being out-of-copyright and all. So, I did "singles issued while he was alive" sort of thing, collection.

Thing is, the minimum price was £18 or something around that. I didn't buy one, and nobody else did either.

So, literally nobody owns "Robert Johnson: The Singles" on go-quick records.

Mark G, Tuesday, 17 September 2013 21:00 (twelve years ago)

the OST to "Thank God It's Friday" - I bet nobody owns that LP anymore!

I have this and I think piscesboy is lying because firstly there are a lot of good tracks on this album and secondly there are only three pieces of vinyl. It's a double album plus a (one-sided) twelve inch single.

everything, Tuesday, 17 September 2013 21:13 (twelve years ago)

there are a fair number of old 78s - blues, jazz, country, many other genres as well i imagine - that were issued according to company logs but have never been 'discovered.'
most famously, two of Willie Brown's records -- http://www.goldminemag.com/features/willie-brown-where-are-you
a missing blind uncle gaspard record was recently discovered and reissued recently on tompkins square's new set of cajun music.

ian, Tuesday, 17 September 2013 23:19 (twelve years ago)

I had a Ludus record but gave it to a Morrissey fan as a prezzie. a friend said I should…

yikes! I don't remember this anymore. remember the record, but not the incident of giving it away or which fan & friend… gettin' old!

Paul, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 03:03 (twelve years ago)

nobody has earwig's "past". I used to, but I accidentally sold it, probably for like fifty cents! along with the first Casino Vs. Japan album, which is also something nobody owns.

akm, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 03:35 (twelve years ago)

(past is on bandcamp now so it's not so rare but I paid probably $80 for the CD 10 years ago)
