they are okay, just sorta there. Not loved and not hated.

I think that was the purpose of the Steve Forbert game.

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 20 September 2002 12:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Super Furry Animals.

Except me - I think they're awful

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 20 September 2002 12:49 (twenty-three years ago)

The Cardigans own this thread, surely?

Graham (graham), Friday, 20 September 2002 13:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Beverly Knight.

Mr Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 20 September 2002 13:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, and Feeder. Though I suspect they may well have several h8rs round here.

Mr Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 20 September 2002 13:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Aaaah! 'Ambivalent' doesn't mean 'indifferent', does it? 'Ambivalent' means simultaneously having opposing feelings and attitudes towards something. Sorry to be pedantic.

Can you enjoy and hate a song at the same time?

Microkomputer (Microkomputer), Friday, 20 September 2002 13:56 (twenty-three years ago)

I enjoy and hate a lot of hip hop at the same time...infectious music vs irritating rapping and tedious machismo posturing you see...N.O.R.E's 'Nothin' bein a good example

blueski, Friday, 20 September 2002 14:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Quasi

Diego Hadis (dhadis), Friday, 20 September 2002 14:47 (twenty-three years ago)

I've never heard any of these. Who's Steve Forbert BTW?

Supertramp?

sundar subramanian, Friday, 20 September 2002 15:25 (twenty-three years ago)

i was thinking ambivalent coz hate and love cancel each other out leaving indifference. (but I probably just wanted to appear vorbose! :)

jel -- (jel), Friday, 20 September 2002 15:31 (twenty-three years ago)

verbose.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 20 September 2002 15:59 (twenty-three years ago)

elliot smith

mike (ro)bott, Friday, 20 September 2002 17:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I am not ambivalent towards Elliott Smith.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 September 2002 17:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Beverley Knight is the reason that local radio stations should be wiped off the face of the earth. The correct answer would be some mild late 80s power pop combo that didn't do enough to be offensive.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 20 September 2002 17:38 (twenty-three years ago)

re Elliot Smith: Neither am I.

But I have absolutely no opinion on Starsailor, and I think I've even seen a video. The only thing I could muster on that was, "wow they shouldn't really be focusing on his face so much"...

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 20 September 2002 17:41 (twenty-three years ago)

love or hate him ned ?

i know people to be pretty equivocal about superchunk too.

mike (ro)bott, Friday, 20 September 2002 18:50 (twenty-three years ago)

I like Fedder. That "Buck Rogers" tune anyway.

Daniel_Rf, Friday, 20 September 2002 21:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Tone Loc

brg30 (brg30), Friday, 20 September 2002 22:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Beverly Knight

No, I mildly dislike her.

David (David), Friday, 20 September 2002 22:52 (twenty-three years ago)

I feel a bit sorry for Beverly Knight.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 20 September 2002 23:11 (twenty-three years ago)

I love the Cardigans... or, I used to. I'm not sure how I feel now.

andy, Friday, 20 September 2002 23:38 (twenty-three years ago)

I feel a bit sorry for Beverly Knight

What, because she can't seem to break through commercially? Or because they're always trying to shoehorn her basically shouty 60s-70s vocal style into some kind of cutting edge r&b package (which never really works)?
