whoo hoo.

this is 100% my soundtrack.

i actually dug out my senseless things stuff the other night and blasted 'homophobic asshole' loud.

sounded fantastic.

Torn between "Its a kids world", "The rock", "Lazarus" and "Blue". A great list, Nick.

halcyon

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

my kneejerk response is big time sensuality or soon. or anything other than been caught stealin

dell (del), Monday, 21 May 2012 00:19 (thirteen years ago)

Wow. I'm not a big fan of the 90s and my taste doesn't overlap much with yours, but I think it might be a challenge picking just one track from this list.

_Rudipherous_, Monday, 21 May 2012 00:23 (thirteen years ago)

yeah this is a hard poll

Mark Ruffalo! is gonna tell us! about empathy! (loves laboured breathing), Monday, 21 May 2012 00:42 (thirteen years ago)

Decided to go for "Its a kid world". Played all four of my choices over and over and "IaKW" still sounds like the future, even now.

Mama Said Knock You Out LL Cool J 1990

Heaven knows I'm thirsty and miserable now (NickB), Monday, 21 May 2012 21:47 (thirteen years ago)

Argh this is hard coz there are several artists I love but don't care for the song you chose.

They have fangs, They have teeth! (White Chocolate Cheesecake), Monday, 21 May 2012 22:29 (thirteen years ago)

"I Wish"

thought this was going to be about "Hey Dude" and later arcane permutations of "Double Dare".

how's life, Tuesday, 22 May 2012 10:21 (thirteen years ago)

would have voted for groove is in the heart though.

This just seems the same as the NME list just posted

coal, Tuesday, 22 May 2012 10:43 (thirteen years ago)

Except that pretty much every song is different.

Sick Mouthy (Scik Mouthy), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 10:44 (thirteen years ago)

Artists are kind of the same, can't remember the individual songs in the other list without looking

coal, Tuesday, 22 May 2012 10:47 (thirteen years ago)

Brilliant.

Sick Mouthy (Scik Mouthy), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 11:11 (thirteen years ago)

Missed this but would maybe have gone for Spiritualized, I've been enjoying them (and that song in particular) a lot recently.

Only a handful of songs I don't like, would much rather listen to this as a playlist than the NME 50.

^ this but for Baby Bird sitting there like a turd in the swimming pool

Heaven knows I'm thirsty and miserable now (NickB), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 11:42 (thirteen years ago)

We did listen to this as a playlist yesterday on the way to Bristol to see Japandroids, and it was awesome (even Babybird!).

Sick Mouthy (Scik Mouthy), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 12:32 (thirteen years ago)

Baby Bird possibly has 50 songs better from the 90s but I still love You're Gorgeous

(plenty of turds on the list though)

This isn't actually that dissimilar to the other NME list in that most of this stuff is NME faves from the late 90s, so the songs are different but it's a broadly shared aesthetic*. I mean it's not like the list is full of Drexyia and Merzbow and the Vengaboys or whatever.

*Nothing wrong with that necessarily, lord knows I was listening to most of these artists at 17-18.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 12:48 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, I'd agree with that. It's markedly *better* than the NME list, but not markedly *different*. Voted MBV, but could've gone KLF or Deee-lite...
