This was written by Charli XCX too apparently? I am a big fan of hers, but it makes perfect sense that she let someone else have this song. I really hope this doesn't fall by the wayside because the current pop climate is really crying out for something that's as messy and rambunctious and, well, fun.

Loving this song too, though it all hinges almost entirely on the whole 70s/90s premise for me. Charlie xcx might just turn out to be some kind of pop genius.

I <3 Charli XCX, but this pushes past fun and deep into annoying territory. Still impressively unhinged and granted, more interesting than yr standard chartpop, so torch for Charli undimmed.

I was pretty meh on it for the longest time, but after finding myself dancing along to it with a crowd of over-served friends and strangers at a bar in Andersonville at 2:30 in the morning made me feel that, yes, it damn well might be.

the best is if you listen to icona pop's "top tracks" on spotify the first one is this song and the second one is a remix, and the transition between the end of the original and the beginning of the remix -- where the refrain is repeated a few time with the beat dropped out, and then a minimal synth line is introduced, and then more and more sounds, percussion, are added... it's just transcendent.

this is one of those songs where the clean edit just makes me barf, it sounds so off

Really hate the vocal effect on this, even if it does support the claim to being a "90s bitch." It's catchy, I'll give it that, and it does kind of perk up the grocery store radio. Ehh.

i like that this song is liberating, but in a way that marxists i have known would say is inauthentic, because it defines freedom negatively, as the mere absence of responsibility, cathexis, etc. it makes me want to shout "I Don't Care!" at them.

the song was in the air for a long time, but it had a huge leap in download #s the week after the Girls episode aired and started climbing the charts, and didn't really have any pop radio airplay until the couple months after that happened. so i think in this case it's fair to say the Girls thing was more of a tipping point than the sole reason it's this big, but it also definitely wouldn't be in heavy rotation on top 40 stations right now without that having happened.

Not much left to say about this, but worth marking that this is almost definitely going to be UK #1 (if the midweeks are any indicator) this weekend.
