i'm just discovering todd terry, kenny dope, and this label. 'the story so far 1993-1999' is just amazing, every track is like platonic-ideal funky crisp washing machine house imo. can we talk about how great this stuff is? what are your favorite releases from johnick, mike delgado, mateo and matos, the force, armand van helden, kenny dope, todd terry, etc.?

i don't know, feel like this is the kind of label where the deeper you dig the more shit you find as opposed to gold. there are some dope tracks on this label but there's also a lot fo samey shit and this stuff is like from back in the day when house mixing techniques were still being developed and it was still the thing to do to leave the tables for a few minutes to do some blow, so you get a lot of obnoxiously long tracks ... like "the bomb" is great but did we really need 15 minutes of it?

i have similar feelings about labels like power music and nu groove

maybe the bbe compilation (henry street music the story so far 1993-1999) that i'm loving is all you really need then. most of the tracks on here are under 4 minutes.

that is an excellent comp and yeah that is pretty much my opinion. the tracks on the comp are cut down to 1/2 or 1/3rd of their original length.

on the other hand there is also this comp that looks pretty interesting
