Anybody else digging this comp...absolutely superb...the 'Spontaneous Overthrow' track I heard many moons ago and is still as fresh as a daisy...

Kind of an amazing comp. The cover art still looks like it'd be for a Scanner album, though.

here's what i said on the numero thread ...

"personal space" is fucking amazing!

it took me awhile to get into it, i guess i had in my mind that it would be some very sci-fi new-age-ish sun ra meets oneohtrix point never type of thing, it's not, it's a mix of all types of soul and funk and whatnot done w/ either drum machine or synth or both

that said ... what an amazing set of tracks! what a revelation! where did they dig this shit up?!?

this is my favorite track i think

it's the first one that i really felt the loneliness they allude to in the liner notes

actually on second thought

this is my favorite track ... sounds like a mindless boogie edit

Yes, this is great. Bought it as a random punt on Record Store Day, very happy with my purchase.

Holy shit, this is great, and perfectly timed after I've been overdosing on Sugar & Poison this summer.

so good

Makers "Don't Challenge Me" is gob-smackingly good. Best thing I've heard for months! Not too sure about the rest though; all a bit too lo fi for my tastes.

For me the beauty is in the hiss...makes them so evocative...

The Pastiche Liberation Front (sonnyboy), Friday, 25 May 2012 19:27 (thirteen years ago)

wow this is really cool stuff -- kind of jaded sometimes about comps like these, but the whole thing is super solid.

seven months pass...

impulse-bought this on (white!) vinyl after hearing "I'm a Man" in the store. it's pretty dope and i'm glad some of these tracks are getting heard, but some of them sound just sound like the home demos that they are, and there's not much to make them 'special' except some shitty drum machine programming. but the best tracks are amazing, that deborah washington joint in 7 is so nuts.
