Worst is out of Echobelly or Eagles... Best, hm, gonna go for ESG.

emil.y, Tuesday, 29 May 2012 13:24 (thirteen years ago)

The artist I've heard of here I don't like like, but they have at least one redeeming DESERVED CLASSIC HIT!
The bands I haven't heard of here sound pretty ace according to youtube.
Echobelly have aged really badly but I liked them at the time.
hmm.

I have to say that this is worst band name hall of fame material: E.I.E.I.O.

I'm torn between EPMD, Sheena Easton and Echo & the Bunnymen

ESG are of course great but I might throw Ecstasy of St Theresa a vote (they look lonely up there), or wait until I'm next drunk and nostalgic for the 90s when Eat Static or EZ Rollers will get it

instant coffee happening between us (a passing spacecadet), Tuesday, 29 May 2012 14:00 (thirteen years ago)

The Eclection record is pretty good 60's folk rock which sounds a bit like early Fairport. A couple of those guys (Trevor Lucas and Gerry Conway) ended up in Fotheringay, one of the others was in Sailor (always hated Sailor when I was a kid though).

Had that Easter Monkeys record, can't remember what it sounded like at all but I bought it cos of Electric Eels/Pere Ubu connections.

I think I must have flicked past this album a million times in record stores but I always misread the artist and thought it was a Cat Stevens album.

I have that on tape, where the full corniness of the image is somewhat lessened (or possibly just obscured by a price sticker)

as you may already suspect from the cover art, Eat Static are what happened when some Hillage-worshipping crusties and former Ozric Tentacles decided psytrance was the hip new sound of the 90s-future, and that is much what they sound like too, but I still have a soft spot for them

meanwhile I've just remembered that the EoStT release I really loved was an EP of them as remixed by other people, and I can't actually remember the full album of theirs I bought after that

http://www.discogs.com/Ecstasy-Of-Saint-Theresa-AstralaVista-EP/master/21386

lp was called free-d and also has some remixes on it...

koogs, Tuesday, 29 May 2012 14:44 (thirteen years ago)

from discogs:

"Shoegaze band from Czech. In 1994 somebody broke into the EOST house and stole all instruments. After this Jan P. Muchow bought old PC and started to create electronic music. Others members left the band."

lol

koogs, Tuesday, 29 May 2012 14:45 (thirteen years ago)

oddly, his copy of "Ocean Rain" is called "Vengeance"

koogs, Tuesday, 29 May 2012 14:49 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, I saw that. Wonder if he was typing out his filing card for the New Model Army album at the same time and got mixed up?? Both from the spring of 1984.

Used to LURRRRVE "Andy Warhol's Dead (But I'm Not)"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Sw8nHWqEjM

I think anyone who loves the Hoodoo Gurus would love this. Everyone still loves the Hoodoo Gurus, right? Right?

But this song is not, in the cold hard light of middle age, that good, certainly not as good as "Rescue," so I'm voting Echo.

Guayaquil (eephus!), Sunday, 3 June 2012 03:38 (thirteen years ago)

From when I went through my record collection and wrote about it a few years back: "There aren't too many cases like E•I•E•I•O's, where I have two full-length import albums and I haven't even the slightest recollection of what they sound like." Still true.
