i spent several months half assuming it was a magic one-off, half in trepidation for what her label would make her come out with (burnt by the emeli sandé album), but the album is actually REALLY GREAT. really sparse and spacey and introverted and subtly percussive, and she's a good enough songwriter to tie it all together. feels like a really aesthetically coherent body of work. that aesthetic is pretty much "trip-hop revival" but i loved trip-hop so it's a +ve to me.

(and - this is minutiae that probably only i remember - but back in the day i interviewed akala, and he talked about the school he'd gone to, and how it was a mix of social types &c &c &c, and in fact his sister ms dynamite's best friend was tessa jowell's daughter, and a jigsaw piece fell into place)

true enough about britpride but will this be the last time i have to take issue with your stalinist foregrounding of katy b as progenitor? not that i wouldnt like it to be true but her influence is peripheral at best, seriously

all i know about delilah is that at one point last month she had three different versions of "breathe" on the radio at the same time and it was very confusing

i am really excited about this album. at first i also thought "go" might have been 'accidentally great' but i really enjoy almost everything i have heard from her so far. when is it out?
