This'll be Ace in a walk.

George Peppard Steak (snoball), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 19:55 (thirteen years ago)

I have a soft spot for Tommy Thayer's old band, but this is Ace or Vinnie.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 19:57 (thirteen years ago)

I guess I'll be the lone weirdo stanning for Kulick.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 20:18 (thirteen years ago)

Cannot even fathom voting for anybody but Ace here.

Re-listening to Animalize right now and dang...Mark St. John was really good. Wikipedia says he did most of this album through a Rockman.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 20:29 (thirteen years ago)

Ace, definitely. But, though he comes off as a jerk, Vinnie Vincent came up with some phenomenal riffs on Creatures and Lick it Up.

A. Begrand, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 20:30 (thirteen years ago)

Fell my heat, taking you higher, burn with me...

I will always associate Animalize with 6th grade basketball.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 20:31 (thirteen years ago)

Secondary poll - whose material outside of Kiss was the best?

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 20:32 (thirteen years ago)

Thayer co-founded Black 'N Blue, who were awesome back in the day.

A. Begrand, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 20:33 (thirteen years ago)

I was trying to figure out how to vote for Thayer.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 20:34 (thirteen years ago)

Vinnie Vincent Invasion gave the world Mark Slaughter, so...deal with that as you see fit.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 20:36 (thirteen years ago)

otoh, Michael Bolton gave the world Bruce Kulick.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 20:41 (thirteen years ago)

That first VVI record was fun, despite Slaughter.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 20:44 (thirteen years ago)

Frehley's Comet was kinda the worst, though...right?

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 20:48 (thirteen years ago)

The first Frehley record is good fun. What an ungainly-sounding voice he had (has?). Added to the "charm," I guess?

mr.raffles, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 20:55 (thirteen years ago)

yeah Frehley's first solo is cool

and I'm voting for Space Ace bcs honestly why would you vote for anyone else.

The first Frehley record is good fun.
yeah Frehley's first solo is cool

Are y'all talking about his Kiss record from 1978 or the first Frehley's Comet record from 1987? Because I'll give you the Kiss record being a good time.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 21:30 (thirteen years ago)

Kiss 78

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 21:40 (thirteen years ago)

Frehley's Comet is more, sympathetic smile, back away slowly and pretend you never heard anything.

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 21:40 (thirteen years ago)

Frehley's 1978 solo record is possibly my favourite Kiss LP.

George Peppard Steak (snoball), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 21:44 (thirteen years ago)

it's up there for me too

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 21:44 (thirteen years ago)

I'll come right out and say it, "Thrills in the Night" is a great song.

A. Begrand, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 23:26 (thirteen years ago)

would love a defense of eighties KISS tbf

something something chest hair, leopard print

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 23:33 (thirteen years ago)

Lick it Up and Asylum are quality albums.

A. Begrand, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 23:35 (thirteen years ago)

Who was the guitarist that Simmons said sounded like an angry bee? And whose hand swelled up so bad he had to quit the band?

Tarfumes The Escape Goat, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 23:40 (thirteen years ago)

Lick It Up is the only one I can sort of abide if I don't think about it too hard. Pretty rockin

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 23:49 (thirteen years ago)

Who was the guitarist that Simmons said sounded like an angry bee? And whose hand swelled up so bad he had to quit the band? Probably Mark St. John. He developed some disease he later died from.

Was talking about the Kiss solo record thingie from 78 or so, not Frehley's Comet.

"Rip It Out" was dope.

mr.raffles, Monday, 18 June 2012 03:55 (thirteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

This new Kiss song is Thayer-tastic and well worth a listen. (thanks to Adrien for the heads up):

Best Kiss song in 30 years?

EZ Snappin, Monday, 2 July 2012 14:38 (thirteen years ago)

Best Kiss song in 30 years?

Nope. Not even close, imo.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 2 July 2012 15:49 (thirteen years ago)

Revenge had a few good ones 20 years ago. But this new tune is pretty great, which as EZ and I discussed earlier via twitter, has Tommy Thayer's influence all over it.

A. Begrand, Monday, 2 July 2012 16:00 (thirteen years ago)

Revenge did have a few good cuts. But nothing this good.
