Bit too soon to be asking the band if they're going to reschedule anything, in my opinion.

Yeah, some people have just no thought for others.

That's a huge amount of metalwork falling down, what a horrible thing.

Some ppl are selfish but TBH word was pretty slow initially getting out and the statement on the band's website does not indicate the scale of what happened.

A couple of ateasers were there - understandably shook up - but it seems a relief that the fans had not been let in & are OK. But lots of long term fans have got to know the crew & are worried. It seems the puppets were already up - it wasn't the rig. There are rumours that the stage was rush built to get the doors open as no wind was reported on site.

This is just terrible. Condolences for family & friends of dead & hope the injured pull through. Can't even imagine how band & crew are feeling.

Victim identified as their drum tech:

A man killed after a stage collapsed ahead of a Radiohead concert, in the Canadian city of Toronto, has been named as Scott Johnson, a drum technician from South Yorkshire.

A relative confirmed the death of the 33-year-old, from Doncaster, who also worked for another British band, Keane.

Police in Toronto say the stage was being set up on Saturday when the top portion collapsed on top of him.

I've posted in the fangirling thread about having been there when it happened.

Just saw that. Yeesh. Once or twice I've been in situations where something -- a passing car, for instance -- could have taken me out a split-second sooner or later, and you remember how much comes down to luck and chance. (My sister falling thirty feet to hard concrete when she was a baby being a good example.)

(Sorry if it was confusing to anyone - the "Puppets" are the nickname that they call the large, multi-position-able video display screens that they've been using around the stage as lighting on the current tour.)
