i wanna say "wtf no jailbreak!?" but it's not like there isn't a crazy amount of great songs to choose from anyway

da croupier, Monday, 25 June 2012 12:58 (thirteen years ago)

kind of impossible but i'm leaning towards "rock'n'roll damnation"

da croupier, Monday, 25 June 2012 13:00 (thirteen years ago)

Once you expand it beyond intl edition albums, you have to start including not just the early Oz-only tracks, but the stuff from two box sets, and I just couldn't be bothered to round it all up. None of the Oz-only tracks would have won anyway.

Manfred Mann meets Man Parrish (ithappens), Monday, 25 June 2012 13:00 (thirteen years ago)

oh the only stuff I was surprised to see excluded was the '74 Jailbreak EP but again, that would just make this tougher

da croupier, Monday, 25 June 2012 13:03 (thirteen years ago)

really impossible, considering "She's Got Balls" or "Problem Child" or "Hell Ain't a Bad Place to Be" or "Highway to Hell" or etc

democracy defends capital (Noodle Vague), Monday, 25 June 2012 13:03 (thirteen years ago)

She's Got Balls is the great underrated sleeper in the AC/DC catalogue innit.

Manfred Mann meets Man Parrish (ithappens), Monday, 25 June 2012 13:04 (thirteen years ago)

"TNT," "Dirty Deeds," "Riff Raff," "Girls Got Rhythm" gah

da croupier, Monday, 25 June 2012 13:05 (thirteen years ago)

love a lot of the bluesier tracks, Bon's vocal on "She's Got Balls" is awesome

democracy defends capital (Noodle Vague), Monday, 25 June 2012 13:05 (thirteen years ago)

"It's a Long Way to the Top" is a raver, that one

Euler, Monday, 25 June 2012 13:07 (thirteen years ago)

the real answer here is "highway to hell".

but you know what, i'm gonna throw a bone to "sin city". i can't think of a song that begins with a more glorious riff.

charlie h, Monday, 25 June 2012 14:45 (thirteen years ago)

yeah this is just too many great tracks to choose from, Bon-era AC/DC is all-time

decrepit but free (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 25 June 2012 15:14 (thirteen years ago)

that said the one I think "man there is a slept-on tune" most when I see it is "walk all over you"

decrepit but free (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 25 June 2012 15:15 (thirteen years ago)

'overdose' is pretty slept-on too, i reckon.

cb, Monday, 25 June 2012 15:23 (thirteen years ago)

'i never smoked me no cigarettes / i never drank much booze...' - uh-huh.

one of the few singers who can sonically wink and leer.

cb, Monday, 25 June 2012 15:25 (thirteen years ago)

Will anyone stick up for There's Gonna Be Some Rockin'? Never understood why that ended up on an international version when Jailbreak didn't.

Manfred Mann meets Man Parrish (ithappens), Monday, 25 June 2012 15:34 (thirteen years ago)

'Riff Raff' maybe?

Then again, if we're talking about the most Bon song of all of them, vocally, I really want to rep for 'Can I Sit Next To You Girl'. Leering Bon in full effect. (Lick your ear lol)

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 25 June 2012 15:45 (thirteen years ago)

Today it's between "Ain't No Fun" or "Walk All Over You". Tomorrow could be "Down Payment Blues" and "She's Got Balls". Wednesday could be "Gone Shootin'" and "Dog Eat Dog".

I don't know if I could even pick a worst, let alone a best.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 25 June 2012 15:49 (thirteen years ago)

gotta admit, "she's got balls" and "walk all over you" are pretty low in my estimation of bon songs. had no idea they were popular.

da croupier, Monday, 25 June 2012 15:55 (thirteen years ago)

stuff i could vote for that hasn't been mentioned: "what's next to the moon," "love hungry man," "high voltage" (that climactic shriek!), "whole lotta rosie," "let there be rock"

da croupier, Monday, 25 June 2012 15:59 (thirteen years ago)

I think I'm going to try to focus on my least favorites. It has to be an easier choice.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 25 June 2012 16:00 (thirteen years ago)

Ooh Whole Lotta Rosie. I forgot about that.
Damn this is hard (pun intended lol)

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 25 June 2012 16:02 (thirteen years ago)

xpost problem with Can I Sit Next to You Girl is that they'd already recorded it with Dave Evans before Bon.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyMmVBHTPhw

Manfred Mann meets Man Parrish (ithappens), Monday, 25 June 2012 16:07 (thirteen years ago)

Well yeah, that was a thing that they did. But does anyone honestly prefer Dave's version over Bon's?

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 25 June 2012 16:09 (thirteen years ago)

Anyway it sounds like Slade. Catchy and all but without Bon it ain't the same song. At all.

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 25 June 2012 16:11 (thirteen years ago)

gotta admit, "she's got balls" and "walk all over you" are pretty low in my estimation of bon songs. had no idea they were popular

I've never been crazy about "she's got balls" but both the verse riff & the vocal take & the grind-down-to-a-slower-chorus deal in "walk" are A+ imo

decrepit but free (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 25 June 2012 16:12 (thirteen years ago)

good grief. dude in that clip above sounds like Ted Mulry. what a misfit for accadacca.

charlie h, Monday, 25 June 2012 16:13 (thirteen years ago)

lol he does doesn't he.

Which now makes me wonder what Bon would sound like singing Jump In My Car

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 25 June 2012 16:14 (thirteen years ago)

can we get a side-poll going about which songs on this list will get zero votes

decrepit but free (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 25 June 2012 16:17 (thirteen years ago)

yeah i'm just not a real "grind-down-to-a-slower-chorus" person in general

da croupier, Monday, 25 June 2012 16:21 (thirteen years ago)

'Highway To Hell'. An obvious choice, maybe, but an absolutely stone-cold 100% classic one.

The Jupiter 8 (Turrican), Monday, 25 June 2012 16:28 (thirteen years ago)

"touch too much" is fuckin great too

no vote, too many of them right next to each other

decrepit but free (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 25 June 2012 16:29 (thirteen years ago)

yeah 'touch too much' is killer

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 25 June 2012 16:50 (thirteen years ago)

there's no way I can vote in this, I've changed my mind 5 times in the last 10 minutes

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 25 June 2012 16:50 (thirteen years ago)

I've picked my least favorite but favorite is far too hard.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 25 June 2012 16:50 (thirteen years ago)

Down Payment Blues

The layers of guitar tones going on here + 4/4 beat is righteous.
Let There Be Rock was a very close second.

ma ck ro ma ck ro (mackro mackro), Monday, 25 June 2012 16:50 (thirteen years ago)

I mean, yeah most AC/dc songs have layers and guitar tones and 4/4 beat. I just chose one I've Djed with way back when during my beat matching days

ma ck ro ma ck ro (mackro mackro), Monday, 25 June 2012 16:52 (thirteen years ago)

What I want I take
What I don't I break
And I don't want you...

nicky lo-fi, Monday, 25 June 2012 16:58 (thirteen years ago)

Whole Lotta Rosie, but I suddenly realise I need to a complete set of nicely-aged vintage LPs

Soukesian, Monday, 25 June 2012 16:59 (thirteen years ago)

It's A Long Way To The Top has bagpipes, which makes it secretly brilliant, but Shot Down In Flames has always been my favourite accadacca song.

Desire is withered away from the sons of men! (aldo), Monday, 25 June 2012 21:41 (thirteen years ago)

it's a long way to the top, dirty deeds or highway to hell. think i'm going with deeds.

contenderizer, Tuesday, 26 June 2012 01:05 (thirteen years ago)

I think there'll be an amazing spread of songs voted for here. Maybe Rosie won't win.

Manfred Mann meets Man Parrish (ithappens), Tuesday, 26 June 2012 09:41 (thirteen years ago)

whole lotta rosie for so many reasons

DO NOT PUT ON KNOB AND BOLLOCKS (electricsound), Tuesday, 26 June 2012 09:58 (thirteen years ago)

'Let There Be Rock' or 'Touch Too Much' but mackro mackro is OTM re: the guitar on 'Down Payment Blues'.

Gavin, Leeds, Tuesday, 26 June 2012 12:11 (thirteen years ago)

"Riff Raff"!

kwhitehead, Tuesday, 26 June 2012 14:29 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, Riff Raff for me too. Just look at those wonderful songs above ... It's like choosing a favorite child. And my buddies wonder why I only listen to Bon era acdc - jeez...

BlackIronPrison, Tuesday, 26 June 2012 23:22 (thirteen years ago)

picking one is insane but i would be lying to myself if i didnt pick dirty deeds.

O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 27 June 2012 15:10 (thirteen years ago)

"Sin City"

Alex in NYC, Wednesday, 27 June 2012 16:14 (thirteen years ago)

...although "If You Want Blood.." is damn close.

Alex in NYC, Wednesday, 27 June 2012 16:15 (thirteen years ago)

Just to be a contrarian, I didn't pick HtH or Dirty Deeds or Touch Too Much but voted Night Prowler 'cause it showcases his voice so well.

Love Max Ophüls of us all (Michael White), Wednesday, 27 June 2012 16:18 (thirteen years ago)

plus it's nasty

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Wednesday, 27 June 2012 18:23 (thirteen years ago)

So much to love, but "Dirty Deeds" is perfection.

(As is a lot of other stuff up there, I know.)
