So when the song was recorded it featured some innuendo that was pretty subtle or the lyrics were ambiguous, but when the singer performed it in front of an audience they make the pun/joke/reference/entendre pretty broad and obvious so that the biggest blockhead
wouldn't miss it.

Inspired by Donovan's Mellow Yellow. On record it's

I'm just mad about Fourteen
Fourteen's mad about me

But I've heard from, er, those that were in the key demographic that in concert this was changed to "I'm just crazy about fourteen year old girls!!" which got a tremendous response from the teens in the audience. Young and innocent days, the era of sixties pop.

hmmm, does "the jack" by AC/DC count? the version on Live from 1992 features a lyrical overhaul that leaves even less to the imagination.

Ha, I had If You Want Blood when I was 12 and never had High Voltage so I never knew there were tamer lyrics (that actually make "the jack" make sense).

That VU live recording where Lou says, "...that means Puerto Rican" -- after singing the "PR shoes" line (in "I'm Waiting for the Man").

Blur "Beetlebum", on record it was slightly ambiguous whether Albarn was singing "He's on it" or "Piss on it" - less so live, when he often changes that part to "Cum on, cum on, cum on it"

"I heard Gideon screwed you in Denver," which has a clever slant rhyme, becomes "I heard Gideon fucked you in Denver," which makes it seem like 14 year old Craig finally gets to swear on stage and his mom can't stop him.
Also, same song features the couplet "We got to the part about the exodus / up to then I only knew it was a movement of the people." Made more appropriate to the thread topic, as Craig enunciates it "movement of JAAAAAAAAH people"

The lyrics of St. Vincent's "Prince Johnny" on the studio album go "...and bragged when and where and who you're gonna bed next" - presumably on the off chance someone might want to play the song on the radio because live it's always "...gonna fuck next". Also there's like a five minute guitar solo in there as well.

God, in my misspent youth, when I listened to early Marillion there was a line in one song where Fish proclaimed 'This is Brixton chess', when played live he would sing the line and in the gap before the next would bark 'BLACK WHITE BLACK WHITE' even as a 12-year old I'd be rolling my eyes, what a clod.
