i hated stipe's voice but somehow hearing 'belong' turned me around on the whole r.e.m. enterprise.
i was dubious of 'produced' guided by voices but was somehow instantly persuaded by 'liquid indian' off 'do the collapse'. etc.
what relatively minor works drew you into an artist's albums or music in general?

i loved "slang teacher" by wide boy awake, but it was really just a gateway to the greatness of "billy hyena" and "chicken outlaw".
