i always think my favorite song from 1990 is "vision of love" but then i remember "groove is in the heart" and "nothing compares 2 u". damn. too hard to choose. its possible that VOL is my fave song of 1990 and NC2U is the BEST song of 1990 and GIITH is the funnest song played on the radio in 1990. or maybe ever. its possible for fave and best to be different. i mean NC2U is like a monolith of greatness. its perfection. VOL just hits me in the right way every single time i hear it. i just listened to it five times in a row in my store really really loud and it never gets old for me. don't know why! i don't even really care about the rest of mariah's debut album. there are some boring songs on that album.

Actually, all three of the songs I listed were 1989! ("Buffalo Stance" charted 4-'89 in the States; album came out a month later.) I was looking at the wrong Pazz & Jop year, oops.
