"Feel Good Inc" is the worst single off of that album and I would rather listen to it for a week on repeat than ever hear Sum 41 or "Float On" again

Fascination Street is not only my favorite song by The Cure, but way up there in my list of favorite songs by anybody. Have to vote for it here.

based on my 2006 countdown "All Apologies" was my fave of the bunch, with "Celebrity Skin" and "1979" taking silver & bronze but honestly i'm not sure, lot of these songs are classics

yeah i'm tempted to go with 1979, since when i think of modern rock i think of glimmering adolescent nostalgia more than celebrities screaming THIS IS BULLSHIT even if those are great "THIS IS BULLSHIT" songs

Midlife Crisis is such a great song... I'm surprised it won the 1992 poll. A close second for me after AA.

I did start to notice that I didn't recognize as many of the songs around 2000 or so. Since I don't regularly listen to modern rock radio, I only recognize things that crossed over to more mainstream ubiquity.

Ugh, completely missed this thread, and I was looking forward to it! Satisfied with the results though.

Put all together, it's surprising how un-''rock'' this list is. Might say something about what kind of songs tend to make #1 for Modern Rock.... or what kinds of songs tend to get upped by the ILM hivemind, I suppose.

Yeah, I really like "Nothing Compares 2U," but if I had to pick one track to represent Modern Rock, that wouldn't be it.
