Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Monday, 30 July 2012 00:33 (thirteen years ago)

Though I do have a soft spot for a little whomp there it is.

WHOOMP!

EZ Snappin, Monday, 30 July 2012 00:45 (thirteen years ago)

anyway, here's where the voting starts to hurt. Janet just over Dre, SWV, Silk

seapluspluspunk (loves laboured breathing), Monday, 30 July 2012 00:46 (thirteen years ago)

oh "Weak" why cant I vote for you too? ;_;

it is kinda interesting that in the 87 sister poll you get the first hip-hop single to hit #1 (though 86 will show some stuff that is very very conscious of hip-hop) and then a couple of blips in the interim, very postive black medallions no gold, and then this year the last walls breaking down and dre and cube topping the chart.

Will probably vote for either of SWV's 1-2 shot, but "Can We Talk" is just fantastic.

whitney

all these songs are great.

was just listening to "can we talk"!!! "that's the way love goes" is probably my favorite janet single, though, which is saying a lot. also there is "right here," so impossible.

sometimes the local r&b station will play that fucking chris brown "she ain't you" song and i'll get all excited that they're playing "human nature" and then, that they're playing "right here," but then it will turn out to be chris brown. that fucking song.

horseshoe, Monday, 30 July 2012 02:44 (thirteen years ago)

Wow. I'm glad I missed that song whatever that is.

The Reverend, Monday, 30 July 2012 02:46 (thirteen years ago)

Chris Brown destroys everything he touches.

Eric H., Monday, 30 July 2012 02:47 (thirteen years ago)

Three of my favourite songs of the decade: 1)" Right Here/Human Nature," 2) "Nuthin' But a 'G' Thang," 3) "Hip Hop Hooray."

clemenza, Monday, 30 July 2012 02:49 (thirteen years ago)

Between Dre, Naughty by Nature and Knockin Boots. Probably go with Knockin Boots

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Monday, 30 July 2012 02:54 (thirteen years ago)

I voted for Dre or "Weak" or "Whoomp", but I don't remember which one.

The Reverend, Monday, 30 July 2012 02:55 (thirteen years ago)

There are fewer contenders this year, yet I'm finding it even harder to pick one. Went with Janet.

I think I knew every one of these songs by heart. But then Bjork's Debut came out this year and turned my musical world upside down.

s. double. u. v.

teledyldonix, Monday, 30 July 2012 16:44 (thirteen years ago)

also lol i've had that exact same experience with the chris brown song multiple times

teledyldonix, Monday, 30 July 2012 16:45 (thirteen years ago)

Cube

Naughty By Nature was omnipresent for a couple of years, feel like they vacated the spot that Coolio moved into in 1994.

Euler, Monday, 30 July 2012 16:47 (thirteen years ago)

Yes, indeed there are some other good songs here. But Whitney towers above everyone else.

jetfan, Monday, 30 July 2012 23:55 (thirteen years ago)

Hip hop hooray easily
